Will ILB Robinson confirm Tomlin is a bad judge of talent?

Robinson is going to play many snaps in the defense. I think he will prove to be a good tackling machine and base run defender. An inside linebacker who loves to play and one who will prove to be our best hitter. A man who can force a fumble, and get off blocks. He has decent speed too. And he can blitz. Covering is not his forte. We shall see how he performs.

Porter, and Jones are two young players who rode the bench and did not play soon enough due to Tomlin's judgment. Will Robinson join this group? Injury, not promotion is why he is playing.

    What do you think?
Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game in seven years and counting. The earliest will be eight years. I guess that in Art Rooney's II, opinion is worth a 3 year extension.

Our 2024 draft looks to be grade A. Our 2023 draft is an A. The roster is talented, but Mike Tomlin is still the head coach.

*** Mike Tomlin is the best coach since the AFL- NFL merger that has not won a playoff game in 8 seasons or more. It's either him or Lewis. ***

How about Porter and Jones are playing well because they were given time to get ready to play?

Robinson is not and hasn't been as good as Holcomb or the other veteran LBs. That was seen in the pre-season

But you be you and keep trying to make everything a referendum on Tomlin...and continue to fail

Porter struggles tackling. I see why he didn’t start day 1.

One could say it would’ve still been better than Wallace in coverage but I always said I was okay with a CB or LT not starting day 1 if they ended up having long Steeler careers.

We’ve lost 3 games and we still have 9 left to play. Such a small sample size to whine about for rookies playing part time.

Now Robinson.. the man can hit but he is not god in coverage or in space. Hopefully he has improved in these areas.

Disappointed that Herbig isn't getting a shot, but Austin seemed to slam the door on that this week. He's strictly an EDGE.

I think the day Robinson is DPOY like Deebo is when I’ll agree he is a worse judge of talent than his HOF predecessor.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

The Coach Formerly Considered Less Than Cowher

I too was of that mindset but I think he is too good of an edge pass rusher to toy with this kind of move.

I think it was more about learning man vs zone responsibilities. Because i mean he still doesn't tackle well, not like he learned to tackle better in half a season.

we played SF and CLE to start the season. 2 teams who are run heavy.

I agree I don’t think he fixed his tackling but I also think Wallace has been so bad they really have no choice. If Wallace was playing well I think JPJ would still be in spot duty.

and we saw him confused in the Jags game that gave up a TD so you are probably correct. I just think its not the end of the world since he didn’t start day 1.

If Robinson shines and discredits Tomlin, who gets credit for drafting and developing him?

Well there is no arguing after Cowher won a Superbowl & then Tomlin took over if you did a graph chart of the Steelers it would be a descending line from 2007 to 2022.

2008 Won Superbowl, 2010 Got to the Superbowl, 2016 Got to the AFCC, 2021 got to the playoffs, 2022 no playoffs.

Maybe 2024 will be not last in division, & 2028 not last in conference. 2032 not last in NFL....2038 not last of all 4 major sports?

I think Robinson could be a very good downhill, run-stuffing ILB. I don't expect him to be very good in coverage. We took a hit in that department when we lost Holcomb, and I suspect that will mean a major weakness in our D that opponents will try to exploit.

How dare a team reach 2 SB’s in 3 years and then trend downwards..

that NEVER happens in the NFL.

once you make it to 2 SB’s you should easily keep that momentum going until you retire.
