I don't know who coaches the blocking schemes, the OC or the OL coach but did anyone notice what Cleveland was doing to Watt for most of the night? They put a back in the slot on Watt's side, had him chip him to slow him down and then handed him off to the rookie tackle. When they didn't employ this blocking pattern, Watt bent the edge and pressured or sacked Watson. It was a small thing but it was effective, Watt wasn't dominant and Watson knew he had at least a couple seconds before Watt would beat the tackle. The back wasn't taking the full force of Watt and Jones didn't have to absorb a Watt bull rush, swim or inside move, it was a good idea, imo.

Yes, KP has made some bad decisions, no denying it ... and not to let him off the hook ... BUT ... he has, what, 15 pro games under his belt? MT has 277 as a head coach.

Not even a worthy comparison, IMO.

Coaching matters, especially with a young QB. the Steelers aren’t setting KP up for success. His play has been awful, but good coaching schemes to get him on track. Our coaching just keeps calling variations on 3 plays. Dive up the middle, jet sweep and routes that involve one or two deeps, a crossing and a curl. Game planning against the Steelers takes about 4 minutes.

I think it?s a mental issue for Kenny.

Seems like he is struggling to process info quick enough and he is panicking.

Then on top of it, play calling is bad, run blocking is bad, pass blocking is bad, and everything is compounding and making every issue worse here.

I thought Kenny was frustrating to watch at Pitt until he wasn?t. It took him some time. I think he will keep working at it and the switch will flip eventually. But no idea when.

Kenny needs help here and I do not see where he is going to get it other than just working thru it.

If the Steelers were to bottom out and get a shot at the first QB in the draft, you have to wonder if he's pull an Elway rather than play in this system.

I understand that. But the worrisome part is he doesn't look incrementally better. In fact, he looks worse than even last season. Last season he had the advantage of being new with little tape on his game. Teams have had an off season to study their upcoming opponents and especially the QBs they will face. One could argue the book has already been written on KP. Clog the box, apply pressure.
At this point he might be good enough to beat half the defenses in the league. But asking him to carry the offense against the other half isn't looking so promising.

They are asking him to run a 'college offense' and he is still struggling to complete consecutive passes. How much simpler can they make it?

Defenses are sniffing out 90% of the plays before the snap. Both Kenny and MC are a problem right now, MC was before Kenny arrived.

He should start every game for the rest of the season baring injury.

But I'm not that confident at this point. He looks absolutely awful this year. Wondering if there are only a few things he does well and DCs have just taken those away.

He'll have to adapt to whatever is happening or he's on the scrap heap. And despite the legendary patience of the Steelers, if it looks like this all / most of the season (it has to get better...right?), maybe that even happens after this year.

The scheme is bad and MC should have been fired at the bye.

But Kenny really sucks so far. Just awful.

He's got to make the plays that are there in the system.

Anyone got an over/under for how long it takes to get our first 1st down in game 3?

I bet the league wishes they could flex out Sunday night. Steelers Raiders looks like an absolutely terrible game if you're not a huge fan of one of the teams.

You forgot to mention they are asking him to run it against an NFL defense.

I?ll summarize without getting into X?s & O?s. I don?t have enough time to get into all that. It would be irresponsible to label KP anything under O?Canada. I?ll also say that every position on that side of the ball gets the asterisk. O?Canada is the root. Individual Execution does not get a pass but there are dynamics that just aren?t NFL standards for an offensive scheme & design.

I?ll stop there cause I could write a book. Not to get into details. You?ll be disappointed but O?Canada will be here & finish 2023. Sullivan & Thomas by direction of MT will be more involved. Probably after the Bye if this trend continues. How much & to what scale? Depends on these next two road games I would think. I wouldn?t be surprised if Glenn Thomas is in the headset after the bye.

THIS... it's really hard to execute when the opposing team knows the play.

Why? Because with 11 on defense and 11 on offense, at least 1 (if not 2+) go unblocked.

                                The QB isn't blocking.

And if the RB is running (or Warren is in on a pass), the RB isn't blocking either.

You have 2 free guys running around with a cheat sheet.
