I'm seeing a bunch of scrambles on the day.
If Cole can redirect to Seumalo we'll be fine. Bosa is great if he does not play or he is limited along with Kittle being limited that should really help.
Team who has their qb hit the deck the most likely looses. This is a game where we could really use a guy like Austin setting up some shorter fields against that strong D,
Great test for us to see just what we are or are not.

Gotta be creative on offense out of the gate. A day of Harris run right, Harris run left, Harris RUTM, won't beat SF.

More worried about the defense against Kittle, CMC. Deebo. They are gonna have their hands full.

The game could very well turn on a turnover.

They're saying Kittle is likely not going play. So there's that.

Yes, it is a big concern, especially if they pass out of run formations and Elandon Roberts gets stuck on any of those three. We may want to open the game in nickel.

I think nickle is the D we've played the most over the past few years. I'd imagine that will be the same this year.

I don't think many (any?) teams run "base" defenses more than sub packages anymore. At least the Deport charting says that we haven't for as long as I've been paying attention to it (somewhere between 3-5 years).

            Here's last season's results
A little late but I’ve hammered out my final Pittsburgh Steelers’ 2022 defensive charting. Going through our weekly data, it’s a labor of love, but provides a ton of great information to talk about this year and compare to previous seasons. If you have any questions about the defense, individually or collectively, that you don’t […]

            Nickle: 37.8%
            3-4: 24.9%
            Dime: 17.9%
            3-3-5: 11.9%
            4-4: 4.4%
            3-5: 2.3%
            other: ~ 1%

This is exactly where my head is at; Purdy hasn't thrown an interception yet; am I right? So I think it's high time he got a proper introduction to TJ and we get his first interception of his young career.
I think Kettle is out along with Bosa. So if we can win the turnover battle, I say we have a great chance on a week 1 victory.

You open the game in nickel, your inviting a Deebo Samuels outbreak. Deebo is really a runningback playing wide receiver.

                  Agreed.
Especially Kittle plays it is just a bad matchup for us.
Elite pass catching back and tight end plays to our biggest weakness.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

Am I the only one who sees Bosa being unsigned and the Kittle injury being overstated?

I feel like the Bosa deal is agreed on and being sat on, and Kittles questions as being a strategy to throw our prep off.

There is ZERO REASON to announce a signing or Kittle being good to go prior to the last minute.

guess that means they will both play.

                        Purdy threw 4 INT’s as a rookie.

Tomlin is 10-5-1 in Wk1 games including 4-1 in home openers.

This is the first home opener in 9 years.... who makes these schedules?!?
