Will the complaining about ignoring the OL continue? This is a solid move.
Doing what they do...position themselves for max flexibility in the draft
I could now actually see a WR at #17 or #32, but still think CB, DL and ILB biggest needs"My team, may they always be right, but right or wrong...MY TEAM!"Comment

I said before that Weidl may be our very best off season move"My team, may they always be right, but right or wrong...MY TEAM!"Comment

I'll give management credit for trying to improve the OL. Of course we'll have too see how it works out. If we can draft an OT with the first pick, and C John Michael Schmitz with the second we could one of the best o-lines in the NFL. Adios to both Dotson and Green.
Sumo, welcome to the Steel City.

Oviedo could be right in that this may allow then to go into another direction at #17 other than O-line. I hope not but but that now could be the plan.
Need solid talent on the offensive side of the ball in those trenches. I don’t think they will go O-line with more than one pick now. Bummer.
My mock in April will be very different than what it would have been in February.
They are trying to fix things on that O-line. From the backend and hopefully to the front.Comment

Steel Maniac's Time-Based Prediction: Lamar Jackson will be a bust and total flop in the NFL.
What Actually Happened: Lamar Jackson became the youngest two-time NFL MVP winner ever.
Gloat gloat gloat
Boom........Knuckle up. Punk.
My IT guy...HahahahahahahaComment

I'm just curious how this pans out. Supposely we had one obvious OG spot of need. We have now signed two OGs right? LG was the problem spot, with Dotson - who some claimed in here was the best OG in his draft class - failing to man the spot. Now this guy and Herbig? Where does Daniel play?Comment
-
I think there is ZERO chance they draftC John Michael Schmitz with the second pick after making the moves they did in free agency. I think there is a very real possibility that Daniels goes to Center and Herbig and Samo are the starting Guards. daniels came out of college as a Center

I think they’re happy with cole at center.
Daniels hasn’t played much of any center in the pros. I doubt they try him there.
guessing herbig is the back up on the interior cone game day.
we’ll see if they’re done with the tackle position.
one more guy there and this can turn from a negative play unit for the last few years into a positive one.Comment

Yes the depth and the starters in many cases were poor or overpaid. The Steelers have 11.28 million in cap " dead money " and we pissed away draft picks for players we cut next year. This stinks.
At least we appear to have better cap management this year. This is not so say I am sold on Khan being the GM. Let's see who he drafts and how the players pan out.
Odd are, he and Weidl will out-perform the arrogant/lazy Colbert/Cool Shades pairing. They had been really shlting the bed recently.
21 1 Najee Harris 24 RB - If we're being honest, he hasn't turned out as a 1st round RB. He just hasn't.
2 Pat Freiermuth 55 TE - Not bad, but hasn't really flowered yet.
3 Kendrick Green 87 OL - A poor pick,no matter how you slice it. Colbert picked the wrong guy to be cocky about.
4 Dan Moore 128 OL - Bad pick, no matter how much they tried to force feed him as starting LT. Just not good.
4 Buddy Johnson 140 LB - no.
5 Isaiahh Loudermilk 156 DE - Meh
6 Quincy Roche 216 DL - no.
7 Tre Norwood 245 DB - no.
7 Pressley Harvin III 254 P - A Cool Shades FAIL.
2020
2 Chase Claypool - A failed pick, big time. May re-coop after foolish Bears' trade, but he was a poor pick.
3 Alex Highsmith - Finally, a hit.
4 Anthony McFarland Jr. 124 RB - A FAIL MD pick.
4 Kevin Dotson 135 G - FAIL pick (even though some in here claimed he was the best OG in the draft).
6 Antoine Brooks Jr. 198 S - A MD pick, FAIL again.
7 Carlos Davis 232 DT - no.
2019
1 Devin Bush Jr. 10 LB - Colossal FAIL, no matter how you look at it.
3 Diontae Johnson - An "OK" pick, no AB
3 Justin Layne 83 CB - FAIL
4 Benny Snell Jr. 122 RB - Not the worst, not great.
5 Zach Gentry 141 TE - OK
6 Sutton Smith 175 DE - no.
6 Isaiah Buggs 192 DT - no.
6 Ulysees Gilbert 207 LB - no.

2018 1 Terrell Edmunds - mostly wasted 1st round pick, go VA schools!
2 James Washington - Mostly wasted
3 Mason Rudolph 76 QB - Mostly srved his purpose as a #2 QB. Not the "1st round talent" they bragged of.

5 Marcus Allen 148 S - OK for 5th
5 Jaylen Samuels 165 TE - no.

2016

3 Javon Hargrave 89 DT - Solid
4 Jerald Hawkins 123 T - no.
6 Travis Feeney 220 OLB - no.
7 Demarcus Ayers 229 WR 2016 - no
7 Tyler Matakevich 246 OLB 2022 - I Like him
2015
1 Bud Dupree 22 OLB - Near miss. Not a bust, but...
2 Senquez Golson 56 CB - A waste.
3 Sammie Coates 87 WR - Showed some promise but...
4 Doran Grant 121 CB - no
5 Jesse James 160 TE - OK value
6 Leterrius Walton 199 DT - no
