Liked the fact he was often the first player on D to move at the snap. That is a trait most scouts covet. That aspect really helps with hand position.
Lots to still know about this prospect but knowing AK as I do he sees a scheme fit here he likes along with some nice physical tools to go along with that.

What about at OT? Has everyone eaten crazy pills and thinks Moore is even an average LT at this point? He blows. If they want to address the inside OL, do that with one of the 2nd or 3rd round picks. Plenty of decent OGs in those rounds to replace Dotson/Greene.
Watched Torrence against Carter who is slated to go at the very top of this draft and he handled him. That sold me on him. However not at 17. I would prefer a corner but that's me.
So Whisper can you name your best 3rd round graded prospect at guard that can step in and replace Dotson?

What should we do with Greene? He failed miserably at center - even after Tomlin defended his play at center AFTER Big Ben said he would make a better OG. (Shades has since gone silent on the subject, gee, I wonder why?) But Greene's switch back to OG didn't help much; he was still so inept that he didn't even dress for games in 2022. Not even dress. How's that for your 3rd-round pick that the GM was braggadocios over?
          Get over it... its done.
          Mouth is the man.

Was it the right pick? We will never know Creed could have been just average here with Klum and Dotson next to him.

Before we start talking about draft, I can see us upgrading RT ( cheaper and easier) in FA.
            pre-draft penciled in...

Chucks-Dotson-Cole-Daniels-FA RT, swing OT Moore, swing G/C Haus.

Maybe at 49 or round 3 take a developmental tackle.

I'm not sure Chuks can play left T. If he could I would have thought they would have tried him there already with Moore's early struggles.

                    Steelers first round OG's have been good to great;

                    1986 - J Rienstra - 9th
                    1998 - A Faneca - 26th
                    2002 - K Simmons - 30th
                    2012 - D DeCastro - 24th

Meanwhile, their 1st round Tackles have been, well, spotty:

                    1989 - T. Ricketts - 24th
                    1992 - L. Searcy - 11th
                    1996 - J. Stephens - 29th

And honestly, even their 2nd round tackles have been underwhelming.

                      Searcy wasn’t spotty.

notice where they took these OTs. Mid to late 20s.
great LTs come off the board early.
At #17, we have a much better shot at landing a franchise LT

Marvel Smith was no one to pooh pooh, either. Max Starks was solid for a 3rd.

                          PFF 2023 Mock Draft

                          17. PITTSBURGH STEELERS: OT DARNELL WRIGHT, TENNESSEE

The Steelers do have their current offensive tackles, Dan Moore Jr. and Chukwuma Okorafor, under contract for 2023, but that’s not to say they shouldn’t look for a potential upgrade. Though Wright played right tackle for the Vols — the bigger need for the Steelers is left tackle — he is talented enough to where I’d take a chance on him and feel comfortable with the growing pains of Wright or Moore on the left side. On 507 pass-blocking snaps in 2022, he allowed no sacks and just eight pressures with an 80.2 pass-blocking grade.

The Houston Texans trade up to No. 1 to draft Alabama quarterback Bryce Young, and the Chicago Bears get their preferred player in Georgia defensive tackle Jalen Carter at No. 2.

They must be reading my signature mock draft. I've been watching this pick, we can get him in the 2nd.

He'd be a little over drafted in the 1st.

Help me find my post proving I am a Yinzer!

I will tip my hat to Tomlin if he has a winning record and the team makes the play-offs in the upcoming season.

I think he and Jones ( ohio state) are gaining hype, all said and done, by draft day they could have late 1st round grades.
( History shows that at 20 till early 2nd is a sweet spot to take OT, who have potential to be good above average)

This draft might not have the big names at OL, but I think at 32 and 49 some OL players ( regardless of position) are going to look in black and gold, and can help improve the OL now and in the future.
