We won't be drafting a WR in RDS 1 to 3. We still have Austin? In the wings. Johnson needs to go to the second option at best and Pickens move up to #1.

    Isn't Juju available?

He is, but do we really think the Chiefs are gonna let him roll out of town?

if they’re going to play 2TE sets as often as they do. Then having someone better then gentry as shoukd be a target.
the Georgia TE IS a mountain of a man that projected to go in 2nd round. He’s 6’7 275lbs and is a threat receiving.

the ravens drafted likely ( I believe) in the 4th round and looks like they found themselves a player

How many times do we have to hear from former players and current players: The defense knows what's coming going against Pgh. It's easy to know what they are going to do. The O is antiquated and simple. That's on Shades and the guy who gave his son the scholarship to MD.

they showed him running his route on the td he almost scored early on.

the route was pop Warner level. Run down the field 20 yards, stop and turn around.

Type of pattern we’re used to seeing with the mike and matty clown show on the sideline.

This is a terrible comparison - but it's the first one that comes to mind. DJ reminds me a lot of Barry Sanders. NOT that he will ever be in the HOF - but his style of game play is feast or famine. He'll make a great catch and run and give you flashes of brilliance - but he'll offset that occasional great play with mind numbing, drive stopping drops and mistakes. The steelers see his flash and think of the potential - but his downside is simply too costly IMO. Pickens has showed that he will catch dang near anything thrown his way. The compliment to him is a possession receiver who is reliable over the middle and doesn't drop the damn ball. Think Hines Ward.

I think the steelers need a #1 who is reliable, doesn't make mistakes or drop footballs and who on occasion will make a splash play. Not a #1 who occasionally makes a splash play but the rest of the time is unreliable, inconsistent and doesn't keep drives going.

If they can find good trade value, move on.

Or Juju. Too bad KC's likely not letting him out of town. We simply kept the wrong guy.

0 TD's, a low YPC average and more drops than you can count on one hand.
Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game in seven years and counting. The earliest will be eight years. I guess that in Art Rooney's II, opinion is worth a 3 year extension.

Our 2024 draft looks to be grade A. Our 2023 draft is an A. The roster is talented, but Mike Tomlin is still the head coach.

We need a lot in the draft. Johnson is not going anywhere. Simms / Austin need to step it up. Pickett needs to play better as Pickens, Muth and rookie Heyward make a lot of WOW catches taht make Pickett look good...but Johnson does not. Pickett's accuracy and ball placement need to improve.

I am not convinced Pickett isn't part of the problem as Johnson was much better with Ben and other QB's was he not? Yes he was and that a shot at Pickett but make no mistake about it Johnson is overpaid big time. I said let him walk / do not re-sign him!

The Steelers could live with his shortcomings if they had some level of an explosive offense to make up for the gaffs. But when every catch must be made for drives to continue it just magnifies his mistakes. Shoulda paid JJSS and let DJ walk, more reliable, better blocker. Khan/Tomlin mistake there.

I remember some love for him. But no one, including the Steelers, saw DJ regressing like he did. Lots of talent but it seems like the mental aspect of the game isn't consistent for him.

I always thought of Juju as our next Hines Ward and it's a shame to get rid of a Hines Ward. He has that toughness factor. But neither he or DJ seem to be the number 2 we need next to Pickens.

Still, I believe the biggest weakness we have on offense is the coordinator. A good one could get a lot more out of it with no player changes. Whisenhunt had Ward, Randle El and Cedrick Wilson in 2005. We can do more with Pickens, DJ and Sims (or whomever)

Not sure if I'm mixing my thoughts with the general idea of the board, but I think it was mostly that Juju wasn't coming back to us because of the horrendous usage he had for the previous 2 years that totally destroyed his market value.

I would not be surprised if DJ was similar in that if he went to another team with a good passing attack (especially a team like KC), he'd likely put up numbers at least as good as what he was doing with Ben.

I think it's likely that this year was just a dud for him. Makes sense to see how he rebounds. Especially given the cap hit for cutting him.

I think it's more that Juju wanted out than we got rid of him.

He wasn't worth the franchise tag and I think he wanted to go somewhere that had a passing game that would see him catching balls more than 5 yards downfield.
