    A year from now.....

...can we hope Kenny will be as good as Trevor Lawrence is right now? He is playing better than any QB in the NFL the last month. But it took over a year. Will Kenny be this good at this time next year????

If Canada is still OC I seriously doubt it.

I was going to add that Lawrence's turnaround did happen when he got a real, proven, offensive coach in Doug Pederson.

I doubt next year Pickett will be as good as Lawrence is right now. Very unlikely regardless if Bill Walsh or Andy Reid is coaching him!
Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game in seven years and counting. The earliest will be eight years. I guess that in Art Rooney's II, opinion is worth a 3 year extension.

Our 2024 draft looks to be grade A. Our 2023 draft is an A. The roster is talented, but Mike Tomlin is still the head coach.

*** Mike Tomlin is the best coach since the AFL- NFL merger that has not won a playoff game in 8 seasons or more. It's either him or Lewis. ***

Kenny's a gym rat, expect him to be working harder than ever this offseason on his own, then taking all the reps with the 1's in all team activities. I would expect a big jump and will be disappointed if it doesn't happen.

Exactly. Everything around Lawrence and now he's thriving. If we still have Canada, you can forget it.

That would be beyond depressing. If Art II can't see and react to that, we are lost for a long time.

I expect a leap.. but will he be as good as Lawrence? Who knows..

and how good is Lawrence this year?

I haven’t watched a ton but they had a stretch where they lost 5 straight. Would fans stick by KP during that rough stretch in his second year even if his passing stats improved drastically?

if we finish the year 7-2 or 6-3 after the bye, Canada probably stays. I think he stays unless we have an epic collapse on offense these last 3 games.

Sorry fellas but this offense is totally new for KP. If the running game continues to improve and we play ball control offense and win games why would we start all over?

                  Because fans hate Canada?

I think a better question is how does the offense feel about Canada?

The 5 straight losses was before he went through his major uptick in play; no QB has been better the last month, no one. But Kenny doesn't have Lawrence's arm or athletic skill, plus hasn't always been the amazing winner Trevor has been, who won championships at every level before making it to the NFL. It's crazy.

I was thinking this very same thing the other day. I hope so. He's a really likable guy, and seems to get the game. Cool Shades is not known for being a teaching coach, and it looks to me like the culture of the team is that way, too. If that is the case, (and I might be wrong with that) he will have to make it work on his own. Maybe Ben or another great can coach him up in the off season.

IDK, but I hope the best, and feel it's there for him.

The best coaches are known to possess knowledge of how to play every position and pass that knowledge on to their players: Big Tuna, Jimmy, Hoodie, Walsh Noll, all the greats. That does NOT describe Cool Shades. I have never seen a video of him delivering any football knowledge to his players. All he has are quips and flashy sayings. No depth.

Your probably right about Canada staying IF.. we continue to win. But all of a sudden your saying it's not Canada but KP's lack of experience? Sorry ..but i'm not buying that. KP, Ben, MT..all of them have looked the same under Canada. It's not the QB to me; It's the guy who wasn't really qualified BEFORE we hired him as our OC who is the problem.

Ben was old.. sorry, but in football years he was ancient given the way he played the game. His body was failing. Dude fell down throwing a shovel pass one game last year.

MT is an average QB. Always has been.

Kenny us a rookie who is looking better every week IMO unless he gets concussed.

and when did I say it was Kenny and not Canada? What exactly does that mean? Kenny and Mitch have missed WR’s. DJ and Pickens have dropped TD’s. Both had games where they threw it to the wrong team too and often.

I’m not saying Canada is great but if KP continues to improve while running his offense and the OL keeps improving most weeks.. why would we move on from Canada?

they also haven’t all looked the same under Canada. Ben struggled to score points before halftime. Pickett isn’t having that problem lately.

People love to point out 4th quarter
comebacks by Ben last year but winning 8 or 9
games and having the lead in the 4th in 99% of those games is an improvement.

KP will be better than TL.

TL has the arm. KP has the accuracy.

TL has all the tools to be the best. But I’ve watched enough KP to know what he can do despite his limitations and think he wins the neck up battle long term.

And his tools are good enough to work with.

I doubted KP so many times at Pitt I’ve given up on it and know he’ll work to get better.
