Its time to shut Najee down

Clearly he i’m hasn’t been right all year. He showed a little burst last week but I think he actually injured himself on that leap into the end zone last week. He got up a bit gimpy after that play.

Probably over compensating for the foot and high ankle. Tough year for him but Snell and McFarland actually looked good. I worry about QB protection but our running game was pretty impressive at 5 yards a pop.

Rest Najee and let these dudes take over for a few games or maybe for the rest of the year depending on the severity if the injury.

I agree that injuries have likely dogged him from the outset. But why don't we wait to find out the extent of any injuries before projecting how long he should sit down? He should play when he's healthy enough to play. No sooner, no later.

100% doesn't apply to a whole lot of players on the back half of the season.

because I think every other RB is more effective than Najee right now due to his injuries.

I’m all for playing guys if “healthy” but I believe we will be a better football team with Snell and McFarland in the short term.

The Oline's run blocking has gotten better. Success for any unit or player only goes as well execution from week to week.

I don't think Najee should be shut down unless he has a season ending injury. There is still a lot of football left. Some key games coming up for the Steelers. I don't think the Steelers will make the playoffs but you never know.

Pittsburgh needs to protect it's 1st round pick RB... It's an investment... Pittsburgh needs to protect that investment... If Pittsburgh is going to justify spending such a high draft pick on a RB, they have to get to his second contract... 8 years of a top talent like Najee is worth resting him for 1 season early in his first contract...
I noticed that Anthony McFarland is a pretty certain "Jet sweep" guy... So I am all for more "B-B-B-Benny and the 'jet...' Let Najee get right...

That's quite a flip flop from "he was hurdling players in week 1 and Tomlin would never play him if he wasn't healthy".

I would seriously consider shutting him down for a few games, if not the season. pretty damning indictment last night that something is just not right with Najee. Also, keep in mind Benny and Anthony had "fresh legs" as well, but the burst, vision, and just overall "running downhill" was night and day.

I saw Najee rolled an ankle again, but they said he had an abdominal issue. Who knows, but I'd give him some rest.

I'm in agreement here. I think Najee is hurting, it shows on some runs because he lacks power (not all the time). Snell and McFarland looked fresh and had some extra drive that impressed me last night. I still think that Warren is better than both of them, but when he returns, I'd rotate the 3 with Warren the starter and let Harris rest his body and get right. Lingering injuries such as these can turn into something more serious and complicated if you continue to grind on them and reinjure yourself.

Just my observation, what do we have to lose at this point anyways.

That's not a flip-flop at all... It's taking the data you had at week 1, i.e. "hurdling players in week 1," which is an effective way to gain yards... then observing that Najee's injury is preventing him from gaining yards.... I don't see anything besides 'Tomlin hate' as a reason you even brought coaching into this....

McFarland had noticeably faster burst speed. Snell ran well too. Both looked like an improvement over a gimpy Najee. I don't see any reason to play Najee until he's fully healed.

The O-line's run blocking did look good. All the other RB's looked well behind it. But shutting down Najee? Hmmm. Unless we think we can give him 2-3 games off to get over nagging injuries..okay. But not for the season.

that’s because he had ANOTHER INJURY last night that was enough to keep him out.

Agreed. I have no issue with a 80
or 90% healthy Najee playing but if we continue to see Snell and McFarland play well let Najee rest until he is healed.

I'm hoping that through this, Tomlin will see that having several RBs involved in the rushing attack is not a bad thing
