Its time to shut Najee down

When you add in the $161M guaranteed they gave Wilson then yes, and I think we can almost declare it now. Whatever the reason for his awful play, 34 year olds don't typically return to form once they start to slide.Comment

Can we really assess that until Hackett is fired? Because Hackett is going to be fired after this year. Probably the first coach let go. I"m going to give Wilson a wait and see until they get a real coach over there. Having a legit coach is underrated. It's not just talented players.Comment

NFLN just announced Najee's abdominal injury is not "that bad" and he could be playing Sunday. I'm not so sure he didn't re-injure his Lisfranc foot; he was limping coming off the field, not what an ab injury usually does to you. It wouldn't shock me if the team made up the ab injury story to cover for having Najee playing all year on his bad Lisfranc - an injury that Tomlin chose to allow Najee to play the last pre-season game (stupid).Comment

They gave up Bettis and their 3rd (that year) for our 2nd (that year) and fourth (the next year).
I'd imagine that the current version of that trade involves swapping less valuable picks since RBs are valued less now than they were then.
But as I said, I seem to underestimate trade returns we'd get for our guys (with Claypool being the most recent example).
The thing going for us in this case would be Najee's pedigree.
But I really, really doubt we go from grooming Najee to be a team leader to trading him in one season. But I'd consider trading any non-elite player provided I felt like I was getting good compensation.
I think a trade like this would really hinge on how competitive the team thought they'd be in the next two years (or at least how they want to project how confident they are).
Trading Najee in year 2 makes it looks like a big rebuild. Which is a thing Rooney seems to be trying to prevent.Comment

Maybe changing the coach makes some difference. But I don't think it would move him from where he is to where his cap hit says he should be.
If you have an elite QB (which is how he's paid), I think you should be at least competitive no matter what is going on with the rest of the team. This is why I think Ben was an elite QB. And also why I don't think Watson was. But who knows...Comment

I think TO is probably right.

But now maybe everyone is realizing that Wilson wasn't in a jiffy situation with Pete Carrol and Seattle; maybe it was Wilson who was shot, not the coach. Seattle looks like a playoff team again, with Geno Smith at QB. So maybe Seattle pulled off the biggest heist in NFL history, since the Walker Dallas trade to MN. Wilson just doesn't look to have "it" at this point.Comment
