On Higgins; "They Schemed Him Open"

    So says CB Wallace.

Gee, I wonder what that would look like on the Steelers offense.

I don’t understand why you would scheme when you can just tell your players to execute.
How is it possible to have the best owner, best front office, best gm, best HC, good/great drafts every year and good FA acquisitions every year, but only have 3 playoff wins in 14 years?

and they were able to do that without Ja'Marr Chase

You guys must be joking, plays are drawn out on paper with a crayon and they are told to execute it.

        What is a "scheme"?

It has been awhile. I can understand if it is hard to recall.

But going through the archives I think I found an example showing a defense that was clearly confused by our "scheme".

(Not trying to save Canada or anything, the offense is laughably bad, but
just demonstrating that we don't even recognize what we say never ever happens when it is right under our nose.)

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

The Coach Formerly Considered Less Than Cowher

if only the Carolina Panthers could scheme their WRs open for your boy Baker Mayfield, huh? but then they would need to be WIDE open for Baker to hit them....lmao

maybe then he could actually pass for more than 200 yds and not get intercepted twice while leading his team to scoring only 3 points in yet another loss. Lamar Jackson pretty much has made Baker his bitch.

nice call on Mayfield there Steel Maniac, it's definitely time to shut your piehole.

              gloat gloat gloat

Didn't click the link but I know exactly what play it's referring to. Problem is it was one play out of about 60. That's not gonna cut it in the NFL. Higgins was repeatedly open all night so either the Steelers defenders and coaches were morons in not figuring out what was going on or CIN schemed every play.

The flea flicker by Canada after the long completion to Pickens was just so aggregious I can't believe Tomlin didn't fire him right over the mic after the call. Why not just a simple PA pass if you want to catch them off guard? Easier to execute and a higher probability of success. Talk about destroying a young QB's confidence.

Canada the QB killer is his new meme.

Scheme? Looks like they just let Higgins him beat his man.

                  Pitch and catch all night.

He was wide open on this play.

Schemed him open? it was mostly man coverage and he just made plays.

So why would Wallace (who was covering him) say it was scheme? Explain.

Because it's easier than saying he beat me on this play and Maulet on that play and Sutton on that play. The fact is the Steelers chose to cover him one-on-one and Burrow, Higgins, made the plays. Its not some incredible scheme, if you play Higgins one-on-one Burrow is going to throw him the ball.

They were problem moving him around to get more favorable mismatches, but it was always one-on-one.

because saying “I was abused all day” is hard to do?
