Honestly, it could have been much worse in those two decades. At least the 90s were entertaining.

And maybe I'm just being overly optimistic, but I'm hoping that the newer rules make it easier to find someone who's at least competent at QB. We just have to have a few years where we're bad...and that hasn't really happened in a while.

we made it to 5 or 6’AFCCG’s during those 2 decades.

People on here want us to follow team formulas of franchises who have 1 ring or a recent loss in a SB due to a lucky no-call in the championship game 2 years ago.

exactly, I often wonder how many people weren’t around or fans during the 90’s. We didn’t win SB’s but we were in the hunt. It’s similar to these last 9 years. A few ugly seasons but most years we thought we had SB caliber teams. We just didn’t get it done.

Expectations are unreal tho so anything less than a SB is failure.

Agreed. And we probably should have made more SBs (and maybe even won another one) under Cowher.

In his ~14 years as our coach we were 2/6 in AFCC games. We were also the #1 seed in the AFC 4x and the #2 seed 2x.

But the best team doesn't always win in sports. Especially in single game elimination tournaments.

          That's what makes them exciting!

We needed a real QB on those Cowher teams earlier and we'd have won at least one more ring. He made some outstanding teams outside of the QB position. We need to follow that formula in building teams
but need to interject the idea of when you see a guy who you think is a legit franchise QB, put an urgency on getting him. I don't care what other, lesser franchises do; we need to be aggressive IF we identify a guy who we think is legit. We have some posters who passify themselves for failures of the last 9 years by rationalizing against lesser teams failures. Always saying, " compared to the rest of the league" statements. Other then Ben being hurt last year, the last nine years have been an underachievement for a team that should have made the Super Bowl at least twice.
