I also appreciate how coaches are going for it on 4th down early because they know their units may only play one series so it gives them a chance to see them in “pressure” situations.

Agreed, I was impressed with the Steelers pushing the ball downfield and also using the middle of the field. I didn't see any of those jump-ball, back shoulder type plays. To me this is a good thing. I wonder if someone can post the passing charts showing where each pass went.
Help me find my post proving I am a Yinzer!

I will tip my hat to Tomlin if he has a winning record and the team makes the play-offs in the upcoming season.

We definitely looked like we had a game plan to see pass protection. It really looked like we had no desire to impose our will on the ground.

Hopefully next game we see more rushing attempts early on.

I don't think we need to see the chart to know that the O was throwing it all over the field including the dreaded MOF. I also don't buy into the theory that the Tomlin offense refuses to use the MOF. With both Russ and Fields last year, we were told that they didn't throw much MOF and we know the rainbow is a Russ favourite. I believe that Pickett was mostly blocked from throwing there but that was because he earned the distrust. Trubisky did, to disastrous results and then his benching, Mason did prior with mixed results. Tomlin may play it much more cautious with QBs he doesn't trust, but I don't think he bans the QB from throwing all over, and believe that Rodgers come in with automatic trust in that area.

I would like to see the passes and targets. Hopefully someone can post them.

One thing I noticed the offense doing on several occasions was using tempo. I've been a big advocate of using tempo and even no-huddle to put defenses on their heels and we rarely see it outside of the two-minute offense. Rodgers is a master of this but it was good to see it used with both Mason and 17 the other night and knowing that Smith is the one putting it to regular use. I hope we see a lot more of this mixed in throughout the year.

We've seen too often that the way the offense looks in preseason has no bearing on how it looks in the regular season. The coaching risk-on glasses come on and they go back to their sideline offense.
