Yup, and some like to say tomlin has no talent to work with.
How is it possible to have the best owner, best front office, best gm, best HC, good/great drafts every year and good FA acquisitions every year, but only have 3 playoff wins in 14 years?

How in the H-E-double toothpicks do you get put on the pro-bowl team and end the season on a 5 game losing streak? That should be disqualifying in and of itself.

Steelers have 7 pro bowlers this year
          3rd most in the NFL

now we should all feel great about the season!

Just to take the opposite view, I think it validates the type of season he had and any decision to bring him back. If anyone thought Wilson came here to single-handedly raise the Steelers offense from the ashes, then any disappointment in his performance is on you. It would have been nice to have a QB who could have put this team on his shoulders down the stretch, but that is usually reserved duty for franchise-type guys. Russ was good enough. If the offensive line, play-makers, and defense would have been good enough, then I think we all would have seen a far different outcome this year.

I can see choosing Fields over Wison, but cannot see any other QB available (via draft, free agency, or trade) who represents an upgrade at the position. The coaches should have a much better understanding of what they have in both those guys than we do, so I'll trust any decision between the two. Focus on improving the team around them and get your QB of the future down the road when one might actually be available.

Like Dan Patrick said this AM, when you get down to 3rd, 4th, or 5th alternative it's just a participation trophy. I think Minshew even made the pro bowl. The good players don't want to play in the game and risk injury.

In Russ' defense, he probably had the worst WR corps in the NFL to throw to.

Yeah it's a joke. Trubisky made it once. Tyler Huntley. Friggin Mac Jones made it as a rookie...

There were 11 QBs on the roster last year. Lamar (DNP), Dak (DNP), Minshew, Stroud, Mahomes (DNP), Tua, Hurts, Stafford (DNP), Geno Smith, Purdy (DNP), Mayfield. Looks like 10 the year before, 11 in 2021. So figure 1/3 or more of the QBs every year are 'Pro Bowlers' now...

Would be interesting to see the history. ChatGPT doesn't know so I'd have to do some digging.

With what they've made it into, I would think the risk of injury would be pretty low. But I get your point.

And he for sure didn't have the top OL & Run game either. Once again, we've gone a season without the ability to REALLY evaluate the QB position.

Well, this should answering any lingering questions on whether a pro bowl selection actually means something:

The last 5 of his starts, Wilson went from "DangeRuss" to "Dang Russ"

The Pro Bowl is broken, it's so worthless and dumb.

The only purpose I can see it serving is that it triggers bonuses in players' contracts.

This is as an alternate right?

Alternate doesn't count for anything (in terms of contracts anyway). It might show up on their PFR page though.

I hope that's not the case because it isn't "real".

They should obviously not play the probowl. Just name a team. And it's OK for guys who are actually on the team to go do a skills contest.

The game is stupid and unentertaining.
