    Rooney speaks

Same old same old, Mike is doing great, no wholesale changes, gonna re-sign Russ or Justin, look in the draft in coming years, yada yada yada.

Reports leaking out, they kept this presser a secret, sounds like everyone in local media was given explicit instructions to not announce it ahead of time.

Still waiting on the non-knee-jerk "big changes" Tomlin promised in his PC. I mean, if you are just rolling it back with the current staff, just say so. Or was he afraid of the boiling oil treatment from the media?

That's fine. But without an OL and elite RB it's not going to lead to much success.

It’s a testament to how arrogant (and stupid) this franchise has become that they’re openly admitting that they’re going to repeat the mistake of 2022 and select a QB from a bad QB class.

We won't take a QB in the first round, maybe 3rd or later. They're not stupid.Theyre are making money. They save $ in coaching $ and facility $. The Rooney's are cheap and they would be happy to wait 10 more years to compete for a SB. At least that's how Art thinks.

Our only hope is Art's son will take over and he's up for change. In today's world information is instantaneous so they go silent with what would seem to be a big news conference.

You must admit they should have at least fired the D coordinator. The Rooney's are just saying , you're getting the same thing so shut the f*** up. Or maybe they are planning a 3 win season to get an early pick.

Have you ever seen a team collapse as bad as the Steelers did and not make a change?

Do you remember Baghdad Bob? He would talk to the media and say everything was fine and they were going to take us on while in the background missiles and artillery were blowing up the city behind him. That's Art Rooney on the Steelers.

I think his comments on the QB position and the run game are all common sense things that most people here would agree with. The mind-numbing head-scratcher is that no head gets to roll, over the epic disaster of an end to last season. I guess he feels like the addition of better players is more urgent than the addition of better coaches.

My question about Tomlin is... how many humiliating, beat downs in the wild card round does it take before he cries uncle? I mean, surely he suffers over this like the rest of us. It surely can't be fun and "living" as Tomlin calls coaching in big games. From the beginning to the end of these past playoff games, Tomlin looks like he's in visible pain. Does he ever finally "get it" and realize he could actually make use of some better intelligence in his coordinator positions?

Did you see or hear the presser after the season? Sure didn’t seem very upset, probably because his boss told him he exceeded expectations. Rooney was much the same today.

Hate to break it to you guys, but the Steeler braintrust is perfectly fine with where they are.

We might take a Qb in rounds 1-3. I will have my updated mock draft and off season moves in Feb 2025.
Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game in seven years and counting. The earliest will be eight years. I guess that in Art Rooney's II, opinion is worth a 3 year extension.

Our 2024 draft looks to be grade A. Our 2023 draft is an A. The roster is talented, but Mike Tomlin is still the head coach.

*** Mike Tomlin is the best coach since the AFL- NFL merger that has not won a playoff game in 8 seasons or more. It's either him or Lewis. ***

Finally Mike Tomlin's references to "popcorn" issues makes sense!

He has a huge ego that isn't going to allow too much expression of frustration and blame in public. But there's no way that anyone with an ounce of competitiveness and pride, can take multiple humiliations and be satisfied with it.

It's astonishing what has become of this city's sports franchises. The owners couldn't care less about winning, and the idiot 'fans' just keep handing these billionaires their money.

I think his huge ego doesn’t take any responsibility for these humiliations.
im not sure there is much competitiveness left. I truly believe he is more concerned about money, the job security and getting regular season wins than actually competing for titles. Exactly like the owner.
How is it possible to have the best owner, best front office, best gm, best HC, good/great drafts every year and good FA acquisitions every year, but only have 3 playoff wins in 14 years?
