At what price?
I don’t want him back but if he does, 15 million max
How is it possible to have the best owner, best front office, best gm, best HC, good/great drafts every year and good FA acquisitions every year, but only have 3 playoff wins in 14 years?
don't want him back if we're gonna go with the same kind of offensive plan and if we don't make significant improvement to our OL
even if we upgrade in those areas, I would hate to see us give him big $$$ -- I wouldn't offer him more than $18M tops
Want him back is a strong statement. I just don't see a better alternative - not through the draft, free agency, or a realistic trade. I think the Steelers need to do what it takes to bring back both Wilson and Fields and let them have a true competition for the job. Somewhere between 15 and 20 million makes sense for Wilson. Might have to go north of $10M to keep Fields.
It is time to have a plan for the future, not to patch things up to see what happens.
Renew Justin Fields for a 2-3 year period (and someone like Trey Lance, Drew Lock or Mac Jones) and in the 2026 draft (if JF doesn't work out) bet heavily on a franchise QB.
It's time to rebuild and have a plan that in the 3-4 year period makes us strong and candidates for the Superbowl title. We are not now, nor will we be with Russell Wilson.

Would love him back for a decent price. QBs that put up 270 yards and 2 TDs on the road in the playoffs in this offense are not easy to find I would be willing to bet. Problem is I don't see the point in bringing him back if it's goin to be Tomlin snoozer ball again.

Those were kinda junk stats with a few fluke completions

Obviously it’s super early but I’ve seen a few things that 40 million would put him in the middle of the qb pay scale. I’m betting Tomlin would push for this to happen seeing it would give him the best chance at .500

You mean the perfect passes downfield to covered WRs were flukes? Interesting analysis. He finished 20/29 and had essentially no help. I don't see too many QBs doing better.

He only completed 9 passes to his wrs. The rest were simple dump off to backs and tes. A couple jump balls that could have easily been picked.

Wouldn't say I want him back but if there is no franchise guy then the team needs a bridge guy and I wouldn't be 100% against it being him. The argument against him is that you know there is no way he is the QB of the future so I'd be happier looking at a younger bridge guy who could somehow pan out. I wouldn't want to commit more than 2 years and more than $15M per. If three years, then the last year should be such that it wouldn't be too expensive a dead cap hit to cut him after two.

That's a great one to have in the toolbox but it can't be the only one, just like KP's dump offs 2 yards downfield can't be the only one. In 12 starts this year, yards/attempt looked like
Not a whole lot of middle ground, especially in 22 of the final 24 quarters of the season. Feast or famine seems great when there's venison on the table, but if you wanna stay fed, you sometimes have to go for the rabbit. Russ didn't show he could do that.

I think the issue is more on the coaching and design side than on the performance side of things, we have seen every QB struggle in this offense for 5 years now and in pretty much the same ways. No middle of field, lot of outs and sideline patterns. I would imagine most of the routes yesterday were sideline and outs, I didn't see too many options elsewhere most of the game.
KP in his start for the Eagles against the Cowboys had 1 TD pass but easily could have had 3 TD passes, one TD pass was called back on a dubious holding call and another the WR was tackled at the GL. None of those passes were 2 yard yard passes, all downfield.

Throwing to AJ Brown and Smith is different than throwing to Pickens and Jefferson.
Fields had nearly the same passing stats vs Dallas, but 2TDs on the day.
