It is time to clean the house!

Art Rooney II, step down. You're old ( will be 73 next season ) and we have not won a playoff game in seven years. Give the team to your most capable offspring, which from to 10,000 foot view is Dan Rooney, a former college QB. He was born on Dec 25th 1989, making him 35. As a former QB has the foundation. That is all I know about him.

Then we MUST Change things quickly if we are to win a playoff game ... in eight years time.

Up first is who to keep as the GM? Andy Weidl deserves a promotion to GM, as he runs that draft. Promote him or he will be the GM of anther team. Keep Khan as the 2nd in command who runs the contracts. And hire a 3rd man in charge of the doctors and trainers.

Once the house of the Steelers is in order, it is time to clean it. Open the windows and doors, and let the, um, smell of Tomlin go. He was worn out by that new car smell a long time ago, hasn't he? Poor guy has blood shot eyes and may have health issues.

Clean house, We should have hired Harbaugh, but we left that ship sail. Get rid of Austin as DC and find a new OC. The new head coach?!

Draft 2024! Pick a new QB in rounds one or two, and draft A RB and WR within the first three rounds. Use rounds 4 to 7 to draft DL, OL, and FB! This is the way.

Then lowball a 2 year contract offer to Fields, let Harris freakin walk, wave goodbye to Russ Wilson and be prepared to sign the best corner that is switching teams in free agency. Ante up.

To replace Tomlin as the head coach, Choose Ben Johnson. Ante up!

Then you will make the fans happy, give them hope, and give the Steelers the best chance for success. I can deal with one rebuilding year.

I can not deal with Tomlin & his staff of jokers. And an old man as owner who do not care about winning as much as he should.

    Clean house! Change is needed.

Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game in seven years and counting. The earliest will be eight years. I guess that in Art Rooney's II, opinion is worth a 3 year extension.

Our 2024 draft looks to be grade A. Our 2023 draft is an A. The roster is talented, but Mike Tomlin is still the head coach.

*** Mike Tomlin is the best coach since the AFL- NFL merger that has not won a playoff game in 8 seasons or more. It's either him or Lewis. ***

If I was running the team, I'd tell Russell Wilson and Justin Fields goodbye. I'd fire both the OC and DC and the OL coach. I would trade Tomlin, Pickens and Watt for as much as I could get out of them. I'd use the draft capital gained to try to acquire a franchise QB. I'd hire a progressive, bright young HC who would hire progressive, bright assistants.

But Rooney is the one running the team. A few of the faces might change, but we can expect Tomlin to be back with pretty much more of the same results.

The right sources say that Tomlin might be traded. I speak of Adam Schefter, who has made a business of being correct with news. If he says it, I tend to buy into it. " teams will wait and see on Tomlin" . Read into it what you will, either Rooney or Tomlin wants this news out.

Losing streaks always come with a lot of media noise, but that is especially the case when a team enters the postseason on a historic losing streak. The Pittsburgh Steelers became just the third team in NFL history to enter the playoffs on a four-game losing streak. Things are obviously pointing towards another one-and-done postseason, […]

No one is going to trade us a franchise QB in their prime.

So, we'd be betting it all on magic beans (draft picks).

But who knows...maybe that's the best way to get a franchise QB.

FWIW if I was going to try this full tank-mode strategy, I'd probably try to trade them for 2026 draft picks.

          That way:
          1. You have no high quality players on the team next year (outside of the OL hopefully), so the team will suck and our pick should be high in 2026.
          2. We should be able to get higher round picks in 2026 vs. 2025 picks. Because many GMs are happy to sell out the future for the present. Especially ones who are on the "hot seat". Their organizations are incentivizing them to make stupid decisions to save their jobs for another week (every week).
          3. Sounds like there aren't good QBs in this draft. Maybe the 2026 crop will have a QB that makes it. Maybe even two or three (if it's an exceptional class). For example, it would have really sucked to have gone all in on the draft in the Kenny year so we could take Kenny at with the 1 - 3 overall pick instead of at 20. This is kind of what teams like Chicago and CLE tend to do. But if we got lucky with a generational draft like Ben's...
It will be a really tough row for that future QB to hoe with no good NFL players on the team. But I suppose that's how you pick in the top 3 or so.

Unfortunately, the tank strategy usually looks something like this.

Agreed. It won't happen unless Tomlin wants it to happen. And I doubt Tomlin wants it to happen. If anything, he'll jump to the media side of the business.

If I'm Rooney or FO I first talk to Tomlin and say look you need a vacation you look like hell! How about a vacation to Vegas, then I trade him to the Raiders for 2 first rounders while the getting is still good.

I then get rid of the entire coaching staff, maybe Pete Carroll's dad can stay, whoever that is that runs the special teams.

Hire some young and up coming coach as HC of course.

Then I resign Russ because you know what? The dude can actually still play contrary to what some fans may wrongly think, he has good numbers while playing in a caveman offense under an offensive dimwit of a HC. Plus barely any weapons to throw to.

I then go out and address some of the offensive issues like OL and pick up another WR or two.

I then just keep drafting QBs and maybe even get KP back, this time in a modern NFL offense, the dude almost had a 4 TD game against the Cowboys last week.

You had me until you said get Russ and Kenny back. Why repeat those same mistakes? Get your young offensive mind in here and let him pick the QB he wants.

Call me crazy but I think Russ can still win a SB, I didn't see him play in Denver so I had some doubts but he still has it imo. He's just on a terrible offense with a dimwit offensive HC. I think with the right offense and coaching he can get back to the SB. Something else to consider - he's a HOF QB imo, he's won a SB, not too many QBs can say that. He probably could be re-signed for not too much.

Roethlisberger was a HOF QB in name only during his last couple years. QBs age out. Maybe it's not the arm. Maybe it's the vision or processing speed.
