Bill won 11 games without Brady when Brady was injured in week 1 of 2008. Though I won't argue that he compares to Tomlin in the regular season overall when not having a franchise QB.

Mike Tomlin had the audacity to pair rookie first round QB Kenny Pickett with an offensive coordinator that was worse than not having one.

In an NFL that favors offense, I don't recall a less-exciting Steelers offense than what I've seen under Tomlin post Ben.

Won 11 with Testaverde in Cleveland in 1994, 10-7 with rookie Mac Jones, too.

funny how players say they like him but I don’t see FAs lining up to play here.
How is it possible to have the best owner, best front office, best gm, best HC, good/great drafts every year and good FA acquisitions every year, but only have 3 playoff wins in 14 years?

Tomlin might be able to take a 8 win team and rah rah up one more win but he isn’t taking a 4 or 5 win team to over .500

Even Mike Tomlin, wouldn't hire Mike Tomlin to be a head coach in today's NFL!

Someone might want to make a thread about Julian Edelman's recent comments regarding Tomlin -

“You knew exactly what they were doing. And they still do what they did. They still do the same goddamn **** as when I was playing Tomlin’s defense. I’m like, ‘We still have linebackers covering the three slot? Every time we play Steelers, I have at least nine catches. You would think that they would change it. But no, they do what they do.”

This is exactly what some of us have been saying, I know hard to believe an NFL coach would do that but here we are.

I added it to my thread about lack of imagination. Tomlin should seriously think about coaching college football, where he’d have a chance to assemble a team that has better players than everyone and vanilla schemes would work.

In the NFL, he’ll get outcoached 10 out of 10 times by guys who scheme.

Saying players win games, Bill Belichick jokes about renaming Lombardi Trophy for Tom Brady

                  Published January 29, 2025

Patriots coach Bill Belichick is one of the greatest of all time. But he’s now shifting credit to the men who take the field.

“Players win games,” Belichick said on the latest episode of the Let’s Go! podcast, per quotes distributed by SiriusXM. “You can’t win games without good players. I don’t care who the coach is, it’s impossible. You can’t win without good players.

Pretty much what Bill Parcells said years ago (wasn't Belichick a protege?).

"You can lose games if you have the players, but I guarantee you can't win without them" - Bill Parcells

Has anyone argued you don't need good players? I think the argument against Tomlin has been misuse of players, not developing/coaching players up properly and essentially not putting players in the best positions to succeed.

Talent and coaching are both very important, if they weren't then there wouldn't be such an emphasis on both and we would see less of a correlation between the two.

I'm just glad players are starting to speak out about this. I've said numerous times that game against the Pats in the AFCCG was over before it even began due to coaching, Steelers had absolutely no chance in it, really disheartening to watch as a fan.

Andy Reid and Nick Sirianni have this in common: Eagles fans wanted them fired

“Fire Andy” chants echoed throughout the stands in Philadelphia during Andy Reid’s final season coaching the Eagles in 2012. Nick Sirianni heard many of those same fans yelling “Fire Nick” in Week 6. Now, the two head coaches are facing off in the Super Bowl for the second time in

I mean, Philly is the opposite of the Steelers and their coaching stability model. Good is not good enough. Can’t really fault them since they make it work, it’s a really solid organization.
