Mike Williams is the guy, play him. There was a 3rd and 15 yesterday and the 3 WR were Jefferson, Miller, and Skowronek. No Muth, either.

Is Smith trying to prove how clever he is?

So, not a soft benching, but an actual injury happened.

Mike Williams is no G Pickens.... but it's what we got.

Another poster on another board suggesting a conspiracy with the Pickens injury. Tomlin wants to prove to him (and the team) that they can win games without him and his antics.

The conspiracy theory isn't without legs. Remember this one?

Dec. 23, 2018: Steelers lose one of the most entertaining games of recent memory to Saints (week 16).

Dec. 30, 2018: Reports indicate AB has knee injury, listed questionable on practice report leading up to week 17 game vs Bengals (https://www.wtae.com/article/antoni...n-steelers-injury-report-for-week-17/25703048).

Dec. 31, 2018: Reports indicate AB's knee injury was a nothingburger, just skipped practices. AB Never plays for Pitt again (https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id...n-upset-steelers-skipped-practices-final-game).

It IS weird how he very suddenly made the injury report. If there are some legs to the punishment theory, I sure hope it doesn't end the way it did for AB.

And if it was an attempt to prove to him that we can win without him, I'm not sure the message would sink in after this game. Yeah, we won the game solidly but the offense clearly missed him. We need a lot more fire power for the final 4.

I didn't think Pickens was injured. I thought they sat him because they didn't want all the penalty yards he would of cost us in the game. The Browns were really in his head.
As many on this site think ... The Rooney's suck, Colbert sucks, Tomlin sucks, the coaches suck, and the players suck.

but Go Steelers!!!

I'm not sure that Mike Williams can't replace George. He's a big guy and he can catch the football. That catch over his shoulder for the TD against the Redskins was great.

I think we will be surprised what Williams will do with 7+ targets.

Hammy injurys are not calfs. The Steelers need to be patient with Pickens. We will need him for the playoffs. It is Tomlin' call when he is ready.
Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game in seven years and counting. The earliest will be eight years. I guess that in Art Rooney's II, opinion is worth a 3 year extension.

Our 2024 draft looks to be grade A. Our 2023 draft is an A. The roster is talented, but Mike Tomlin is still the head coach.

*** Mike Tomlin is the best coach since the AFL- NFL merger that has not won a playoff game in 8 seasons or more. It's either him or Lewis. ***

I heard and read the suspension conspiracy from a few different places. A ton of social media thoughts on it. I don't believe it but I wouldn't be surprised. I think that if Tomlin was suspending him, this would be a way he would because he likes to keep things in-house, but it might be tougher with the Hard Knocks cameras around.

My question is, does adding a second week change that thinking? For anyone thinking this was a disciplinary move, are you still in that boat or did the added week change your mind.

Comes down to whether he plays or not. Tomlin said "there is a chance" that he plays. If, all of a sudden, he's in the game, then the theory holds some water. Otherwise, just someone drumming up drama.

I heard today that a MRI showed the injury is worse than first thought, so either he is truly injured or just not learning how to behave in public.

To me it seemed like the players genuinely didn't know he was going to miss until the last minute.

That screams "not disciplinary" to me.

With Hard Knocks I doubt they would make it known to the players out of fear they speak on it.

but if he keeps missing time then yeah, its a legit injury.

but I definitely thought it was disciplinary because he probably should have been kicked out of the last game over the second infraction.
