    Wilson 2025 Contract Offer

Still too early in my mind to commit to Wilson next year but speculation is all over the map on what he might command for his next contract:

ESPN’s Dan Graziano recently took a crack at estimating Wilson’s next contract following his latest gutsy win over the Bengals on Sunday. To no surprise, the Steelers QB is due another massive deal.

Well, define “big.” Wilson turned 36 years old last week, and his two years in Denver before this season in Pittsburgh were downright abysmal. He’s not getting the Dak Prescott four-year, $240 million deal. But could he get the Baker Mayfield three-year, $100 million deal? If he and the Steelers keep winning, that doesn’t seem impossible.

I would do a Baker deal without hesitating. But at least one analyst thinks his agent will be starting at $55M/yr.

Your Kahn, what is your cutoff point? I don't think I would go beyond $40M/yr for 2 years. Maybe throw in a few mill on incentives?

Unless it’s ridiculously low on guaranteed money, $55M is a non-starter, thank him for his service and move on.

Is that a floating number depending on how far in the playoffs they go? i.e, what if he gets them to the divisional round? SB?

I would think the Steelers would be willing to do something like 3 years for 25M$ per year base and 5 to 8 M$ per incentives. They won't give him more then that.

That's assuming he doesn't take us to the SB. That would bump it up perhaps 25 %. That's how the Rooney's roll.

If folks are fine with Watt getting $30M per, I don’t see why they wouldn’t be okay with $40M per if Wilson keeps this up and we win a playoff game.

If the trend continues I'd be happy to see them sign Wilson to a 3-yer deal. I think it will happen, he seems pretty happy here and Tomlin seems to love him.

Totally agree. We haven’t had anything close to competent QB play for four years. Now that we do, we just let that walk away?

I really think some “fans” want this team to fail

If Russ keeps playing like this we would be foolish to let him walk. Sign him to a decent 2 or 3 year contract.

Now, if Russ falls back to earth and we get blown out again I may change my mind but if he keeps producing it's a no brainer. Also, a bad game every 4 or 5 games is not enough for me to lose faith in Russ.

There were a few posters on here who said Russ would get sacked all day if he replaced Fields. One in particular hasn't been back since Russ took over and started ballin out.

and I was a huge Kenny fan but I'm not too stubborn to admit Russ and Fields was the right decision.

$40M is a lot different than $55, I’d be fine with that if we make a playoff run and their is an out if he falls off a cliff at age 37 or 38.

Russ isn’t falling off a cliff anytime soon unless he suffers a serious injury. People prayed for his downfall once he left Seattle but they were wrong.

This (even if we're only competitive in a playoff game IMO).

The Steelers are very likely to sign both of these guys to big contracts.

But I guess I don't think people will be "fine" with whatever the Watt contract ends up being. I think we'll all be "nervous" about it. I think he'll likely be OK for the first year or two. Then likely get progressively more overpaid for however long it goes.

I would have preferred the last extension to be 5 years so we could wait another year before singing his next monster deal.

Russ will get at least high 30s to low 40s if he wants market value. There's a good chance he'd get even more as a UFA if he wants to go the Cousin's route. Bad QBs get 30MM deals now. This is just where the market is.

This is the reason that the team didn't do things like option Najee IMO. Just it's "only" $5MM more than you'd pay a rookie replacement. But we need to be picking up the pennies for this offseason.

We're likely to extend Watt, Wilson, and Pickens this offseason. It's likely that the combined AAV of those three deals will be ~ $100MM IMO.

I think too many people have been looking at the Najee decision in isolation. But the team is likely looking at in on a whole team level.

I think this is also the argument for trying to let Pickens play his contract out. But that will likely be a **** show in the offseason. It's too bad our WR cupboard is bare. Otherwise we could think about trading him for a big return.

Sometimes happens all at once. The year before Peyton hit the wall he threw 39 TDs. Just make sure they can get out of it after a year.

From where we sit now, if the ceiling is simply “being competitive in a playoff game”, this season was an abject failure.

I think it was the reasonable expectation going into the season. Probably on the high side of reasonable given the uncertainty we had at QB.

Even going into the season, just not getting your ass handed to you in the WC round was a low goal, and I guarantee nobody in the org thought that. What we’re getting is what they envisioned.
