    Broderick Jones

Played a decent game today. Also saw him a few times trying to talk sense into Pickens.
Help me find my post proving I am a Yinzer!

I thought Broderick Jones played well yesterday against the Bungles.

Dan Moore had the tougher task against the league sack leader. Honestly don't know how much help they gave Moore but 0 sacks, 3 pressures, and 1 knockdown allowed is a very good recovery after the CLE fiasco.

I thought that getting the ball out quicker made it a much better game for the line.

Read that Hendrickson was 2nd in the early slot games in pass rush win rate, saw him wreck Dan a couple times but the scheme was good to get the ball out quick.

Don’t think people are going to like his PFF grade.

That's a fair point as well. Took what the defense gave rather that looking for the perfect deep ball.

I don't think most will care about the pff grade but there are 2 or 3 people who love to argue about it.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

I know most don’t care about PFF and the Steelers say they don’t, but they drafted two OTs in the first round in back to back drafts because they don’t want to have to keep scheming ways around Moore getting whipped at the point of attack all game by good edge rushers.

OL is only one part of the equation of every QB sack, because a sack did or did not happen doesn’t solely rest on the OL. Sometimes they do their job and the QB holds the ball too long or runs into a sack, sometimes they don’t and the QB gets the ball out or escapes pressure.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are now 9-3, getting on the winning side in the division against the Cincinnati Bengals. Nice showing in an atypical 44-38 shootout (82 combined, most ever in the matchup), and a whopping 520 total offensive yards, wow. Defense got their splash in takeaways, also key in victory. Kinda interesting that on offense, there was a trend of more snaps played leading to higher PFF ratings. But on defense, it was the opposite (by a slight trend).

This. It will be interesting to see if we can keep this up going forward

                        Hopefully this week.

I think the Browns controlled the LOS last game. Quick passes seems like the best way to neutralize Garrett (just like it sucks when teams throw quick against us to reduce the risk that TJ wrecks the game).

The issue for us is that both our QBs like to hold onto the ball to try to make plays.

It's a choice, and one that must be made this week. So often we go into games against depleted OLs and all the talk is how many sacks will the D get. The O responds by getting the ball out quickly and neutralizes the pass rush at the expense of letting routes develop. The Steelers did this last game which resulted in some quick passes to Najee just slipping out over the LOS. Let Garrett get those "pass rush wins" but make sure that the ball is already gone by the time he reaches Russ.

Like to see a couple of early screens to Garrett's side. Maybe will slow him down thinking he has to protect against that, although I don't think it will. He wants the sacks so badly, and will go for it at the expense of team D success IMO.
