    Insane Stat (Wilson)

Apparently Wilson is 2 TDs away from having the most TDs in a season for the Steelers since Ben retired.

    He's played 3 games.

Edited to add: Also...I can't spell apparently State = Stat.

Steelers QB Russell Wilson matches Kenny Pickett’s 2023 TD total in just three games
No wonder KP didn't want to stick around.

I guess to be fair none of our non-Ben QBs got a full season. But Kenny had 12 starts in 2022 and 2023.

Got to give Russ his props. Dude is a baller and his play in Denver probably wasn’t nearly as bad as some wanted us to believe.

I do remember a ton of turnovers inside the 10 yard line in Denver but a lot of the fumbles were by RB’s.

That moon ball is crazy. Only criticism is Austin isn’t suited for those in most cases. Hopefully Mike Williams takes over that role moving forward.

Moon ball is 90% off target, our WRs are doing a good job adjusting.

I’m more impressed with the quick throws near the goal line, we haven’t had a QB who could read and snap off a throw like that for a while.

Moon ball gives a WR a chance to run under it. Adjusting to catch a deep pass is part of playing WR. Its effective, not sure why you keep criticizing it. Defenses either have to respect it or get burned by it.

When thrown on a line you don’t give a WR a chance unless its perfectly thrown

Austin isn’t good at it, he had 2 chances and failed to locate the ball. Funny how Pickens and Williams don’t have that problem. Austin’s strength is speed so slants and timing routes are better suited for him.

This. It's why moon balls don't have to be precise. A QB only has to throw it how and where the receiver can adjust better than the DB.

weird thing for someone to criticize when they wanted the offense to take more shots downfield even if it results in more INT’s.

Russ threw an INT on 3rd down that was better than a punt but its the only INT he’s thrown.

                  3 games, 737 yards, 6 TDs, 1 INT, 105.9 QBR.

I know its not pff ratings but Russ is definitely cooking.

Let Russ tell you what he is doing in his own words. Clearly your pff influenced noggin fails to understand what makes Russ effective.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

The other thing was the wind. A fan on another board posted that he was at the game and the wind was definitely swirling and unpredictable. Both teams were struggling throwing and tracking the ball.

its always been the key to deep passes..

just give your guy a shot and most times he will come down with it.

If the WR doesn’t show his hands early its damn near impossible to defend because the WR is going to shield the defender while catching it in the bucket.

I didn’t see many miss thrown deep balls by either QB. I think the pressure by defenses was the reason for most of the incompletions.

If you watch the replay of the Pickens TD. That is Pickens setting his man up and adjusting to the ball. Its one of his best traits. Has the defender moving outside and dives inside to catch it clean.

I agree that the propensity to throw deep a lot is a difference Russ makes, but let’s not pretend better passes wouldn’t be welcome. You should always want your receiver catching the ball in stride as opposed to having to spin around and fight through a DB to catch it.

I mean, that’s really not up for debate, unless you just want to grind your axe vs. us apostates some more

Brady and Brees threw great, arcing deep balls and dropped them into the bucket. I don’t remember a great hue and cry for them to throw shorter so we’d get treated to more cool combat catches.
