    So much for this take.

IR means he misses at least 4 games.

And since he's basically had something like 10 practices since camp, I won't be surprised if they leave him on IR for the rest of the season. It might be hard to justify having him take up a roster spot for the last few games after not being able to practice or play for so long.

He is a talent and has 10 pre-season practices, a mini camp and knows the play book. If healthy, I say he gets a hat.

Could he have played before this recent injury? Well...

It is best to prepare for the playoffs! Keep you 53 best men.
Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game in seven years and counting. The earliest will be eight years. I guess that in Art Rooney's II, opinion is worth a 3 year extension.

Our 2024 draft looks to be grade A. Our 2023 draft is an A. The roster is talented, but Mike Tomlin is still the head coach.

*** Mike Tomlin is the best coach since the AFL- NFL merger that has not won a playoff game in 8 seasons or more. It's either him or Lewis. ***

They'll have the option to bring him back. But I think you can only do that with so many guys.

And if they don't think he'll be able to play because he doesn't know the playbook or doesn't have any familiarity catching balls from Russ, then that roster spot might be better used for someone who's going to see the field.

It sucks that he hasn't been able to be healthy. We could use the help at WR.

What scares me is if we get a major injury to a top WR. No depth. We should sign Slayton or Thielien before trade deadline.....or trade for my dream pick: DK METCALF

Yep. I'm right there with you on this.

Can a guy be traded twice in the same year? Jets are essentially out. Especially if they lose to HOU tonight.

Maybe we could get Adams after all?

So...the trade deadline is Tuesday I think.

I think an NFL WR we trade for probably has at least a contract's worth of experience.

And they'll get added for the 9th game of the season.

I think that person would have a much better chance to make an impact on the team than a rookie who pretty much hasn't even practiced at the NFL level.

And the earliest he gets added to the roster for the 13th game. And given what we've seen from Wilson so far, if I had to bet I wouldn't be betting that he'll be on IR for the least amount of time possible.

My guess is that he stays on IR for the rest of the year. Especially if they end up needing the roster spot to cover for other injury replacements.

Because even if he comes back, I doubt they dress him (outside of WR injuries).

But...if you like the idea of Roman playing, the good news is that I was very wrong thinking that when we brought in a WR last week it was just for the week until Roman was ready.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

                  TCFCLTC-
The Coach Formerly Considered Less Than Cowher

                    And most of camp.

He has something like 10 NFL practices.

Dressed in one game and had a few snaps, no targets.

Zero special teams snaps in the game he played. Which is one of the reasons that I don't think he'll get elevated. If he can't play ST, I think it will be hard for him to dress.

Looks like Wilson getting the Calvin Austin introduction to the NFL. As of now he is out of mind to me, and if he does somehow make it onto the field then it's a bonus. Next year he's just like an extra draft pick.

I just think your expectations are unrealistic. Think about it.

He is not the rookie WILSON that you were most excited about. I think we both agree Payton has more upside. But you talked like he’d dominate from day one.

But he is a rookie who despite camp, preseason, and near half a season has mostly been a below average player who shows occasional flashes of the player he will become.

I think at best Roman goes through growing pains this season making a contribution, but he ain’t no guy who steps in and becomes a savior.

Exactly. Let’s enjoy Austin’s finally starting to show his potential. I like the perspective that Roman is like an extra rookie next year.

You have me confused with somebody else. I never said Roman will light them up.

Now I was high on Payton.
