    Trade Deadline

What do you think they do? Anything at all?

    Wide receiver:
There is Cooper Kupp, DeAndre Hopkins, Mike Williams, DK, Metcalf, and a bunch of lesser options.

    Offensive line:
I have seen a couple of names tossed around for depth, but nothing that really stands out.

    Defensive line:
I see that Breiden Fehoko is back on the PS. To me that means of someone else comes available they wouldn’t be opposed to an upgrade

At the moment, my wish list consists of one: Cooper Kupp. this team needs someone who can consistently get open on an underneath route.

I just don’t know if there’s enough room for him and three tight ends.

Any guys that you’d like to see?

I only really looked at Kupp of the WRs.

    I don't like that idea.

    He's something like 31.5 IIRC.

Has missed a ton of games in the last 2 years. Including not playing since mid-Sept this year.

Has a big cap hit this year (which it sounds like they're going to eat a bunch of).

Still has 2 years left. With some guaranteed money left. Which the Steelers do not like.

IIRC his future cap hits are still ~ $20mm/year for the next two seasons after not accounting for prorated SB which would go to the rams

I assume that if he was treated as a 1 year rental, I think whoever trades for him would still owe him the guaranteed money left on his contract (which I think is why the Steelers only put future guarantees on contracts to all-pro guys).

I don't think they get anything close to a 2nd round pick.

Ultimately, I think the injuries and complications from guarantees make him significantly less attractive than Adams was. And they only gave up a 3rd.

I think you kind of have to assume that Kupp misses half the games remaining. Which probably means the playoffs. So I think I'd want them to eat more of the salary than they'd want to and I'd probably want to give them a pick where it's really hard to be more than a 4th (e.g. becomes a 3rd if he plays in x% of the WC, division, and AFCC games).

I just don't think we're good enough to be trading away good futures for the short term. I think Kupp is short term despite having 2 years left because he's old and injured.

If you knew he would be healthy, in a heartbeat, I'd say sign Kupp ... but I think he may be too injury prone
I think I'd want Metcalf most out of the other names you mentioned at WR, but I don't know that the Seahags want to trade him.

I sign Kupp in heartbeat, team is playing well, you have a shot this year to make some noise. Plus I think the Rams will pay some of his salary.

Half the teams in the NFL are starving for OL. Jets 3rd string guard went down in the game.
The season is too long to field quality. Teams are shooting for player quantity.

I'd love to get Hopkinson. I think he is a good compliment to Pickens. Precise route runner who can still get open

Titans are done for this season and need draft capital for the future

However, just read that the Chiefs are making a strong run to get D-Hop

Chiefs got DHop, Steelers need someone who won't threaten Pickens' targets or he'll go off the rails again.

Guessing it's Mike Williams or bust, and he'll replace Van Jefferson to help block in the run game.

Someone wake Khan up. 3 AFC teams just added elite WRs. We're continuing to roll with Van Jefferson. lol. We'd be better off with George Jefferson.

Mike Williams is a bum. Always hurt. Never performs up to his 'potential'.

                  Kupp would be great.

Can't see the Seahawks trading DK, but he would be awesome to get, especially since him and Russ have a history together.

Kupp is coming off an ankle injury (slightly important body part for a WR…), is 31, and they want a 2nd rounder. I’d say no.

An "elite" WR traded for a 5th round pick?!.... okey dokey....

btw, the Steelers will have to decide on paying Pickens next season. If they signed Kupp, they would potentially have two top paid WRs. That's not the Steelers.
On top of this, I don't know why people are obsessed with this second WR when A. Smith values TEs nearly as much. The Steelers have two very good receiving TEs that can fill the role of WR2.

Why, so he can ask MT what to do?

They didn’t score a touchdown, but the Pittsburgh Steelers managed to go into Atlanta and leave with a win. The journey to get there wasn’t pretty, but the offense did look better than it did last year. One issue they may still have, however, is at wide receiver. George Pickens looked like he was going […]

They have an offense that can work with what they have, as long as they stay on schedule. Still not sure it's an offense that can withstand another D meltdown in the playoffs and play in catchup mode. If/when that happens, play-action and the run game are irrelevant.

Kupp is set to earn ~ $20MM per year in each of the next 2 years. $5MM is guaranteed next year. I believe that means that if he's cut this offseason, we'd still have to pay him $5MM (and take that much dead money).

No cap hit from the SB.

The Raiders asked for a 1st for Adams and got a 4th.

The Rams are asking for a 2nd. We'll see what they get.

My guess is that maybe they could get something like that in the offseason? But I think that it's harder to trade in season because the caps are tighter. Trades are pretty rare in the NFL (although they are increasing).

I will probably be at least a little disappointed if we trade a day 2 pick for Kupp. Maybe I'm too worried about him being old and often-injured. I think that his 2021 season was amazing. But outside of that, he hasn't been that productive throughout his career.

And he misses a lot of games:
                            • 2022 started 9 games
                            • 2023 started 12 games
                            • 2024 started 2 of 6 games.

Kupp is damaged goods. No thank you.

I actually think we will see our WR's produce more now that Wilson is under center. He looks like he still has something left and we will continue to see him spread the ball around instead of the 1 read and run that we saw with Fields.

The other Wilson should be ready soon although I wouldn't be surprised if we wait until after the bye to introduce him to the AFCN.
