But this thread is about NAJEE HARRIS. What do you think? Is he a bottom 8 NFL starting running back?
I think he fits exactly what the Steelers want in a RB

Exactly. Some are so comitted to their negative take they refuse to see it.

I suppose the Steelers are on the list of people that refuse to see that Najee is the perfect back for the team since they didn't pick up the option?

          We'll see though.
if the reports of wanting to wait and see how he looked in Smiths offense are true then it definitely was a gamble.

We'll see. I could certainly be wrong.

I think that's the nice thing you say after you don't pick up the option.

I think the Stevenson contract sealed the deal for him leaving.

I would definitely leave if my numbers are legit and there is more out there in the free market.

The decision at RB is not unlike the decision at QB. Is there more this offense could produce if A. Smith had a Gibbs, Taylor, Robinson?

Extrapolate that with 2024 the starting backs in the NFL.

That is my point, thanks for acknowledging one of them.

It does not matter what he did in prior seasons. What does he look like NOW. His ypc is getting higher. What his ypc AS A ROOKIE means nothing.

Bottom line, Najee is laying waste to your thread. He is going end the season closer to top 8 than bottom 8.

This thread is continuing to not age well, Najee averaged 6 ypc tonight.

As you have seen, Joel is desperately trying to hang onto all of his negative assumptions about Harris. Trying to talk about how Warren still needs to be featured when Harris is far outperforming Warren so far this year. Joel's mind is as unchangeable as a slab of granite. Harris is looking so good, that he is probably going to exceed my original prediction when I said 1200 yards and a 4.3 average.

Right now his yard per carry is 4.4 and going higher every week. Harris is also a great teammate and plays hard and has been very durable. If the Steelers knew, this was possible, they probably would have signed him and should give that a lot of consideration for next year.

All right. Harris is playing his best football right now. I say three games in a row is not a fluke. It is a trend. BUT ponder this. The offense has changed with Russ at QB big time. Suddenly rushing lane are open becuse of the threat of the pass and compling down the field passes. And all Steeler backs are producing, not just Harris.
Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game in seven years and counting. The earliest will be eight years. I guess that in Art Rooney's II, opinion is worth a 3 year extension.

Our 2024 draft looks to be grade A. Our 2023 draft is an A. The roster is talented, but Mike Tomlin is still the head coach.

*** Mike Tomlin is the best coach since the AFL- NFL merger that has not won a playoff game in 8 seasons or more. It's either him or Lewis. ***

Not sure all Steeler backs are producing, Warren has not done much at all outside of a few plays in the passing game. Najee is getting it done everywhere, inside, outside, he's hurdling people, running through people, running by people. Najee is is a complete back, Warren is more of a third down back. Najee is averaging a high ypc while receiving the volume, it has been very impressive and he is doing everything you told us he was incapable of doing.

So, if I understand correctly, you are saying that the Najee Harris we are seeing now was always as good and capable of playing the way he is now. The only thing keeping him back was the offensive system and players around him, but now that there are decent players around him (decent, not great) and a pretty good coordinator (pretty good, not great) that Najee finally looks like the high end back that he really is?

Actually using YOUR most important metric, since the arrival of Russ Najees ypc is a full yard higher than Warren.

Being that Warren runs have always been mostly on pass downs he never routinely faced the stacked boxes that Najee faced.

Russ has made less difference in his success.

Just admit that you were wrong.
