Pickett or Trubisky

If Trubisky is so good, why didn't he get a starting gig in 2021 and why is he playing for $5M in 2022 and battling a rookie for his job?

Am I doing it right?

Why was Kurt Warner bagging groceries after being cut as the Green Bay Packers' fourth-string quarterback? :)

PFF hating on Trubisky? You can add Pickett as well. Here's their ranking of draft prospects from the last three years (rookies in bold);

Need more proof of their bias? Najee is the 5th best RB;

You need to grow out of the stage where anyone who doesn't rank the Steelers' team/players/coaches as the best are "haters" or "biased".

You have to also get past believing there isn't an anti-Steelers bias in the media or that any of these guys don't have their own agendas. Perhaps none greater than Mel Kiper and the Ravens.

We hope Pickett wins the job because he's a 1st round quarterback and he's going to play at least 10 games unless he a total bust, which isn't likely. In general first round qb's are going to have to lose the hard way before they are labeled busts/disappointments or marginal staters that teams need to upgrade from...AKA Sam Darnold or Baker Mayfield. This can set a franchise back 3-5 years until they get a new QB but that is the game.

Let it be an open competition which really means tie goes to Pickett because he's going to get better in theory. I have a hunch Turbisky is going to surprise some people because he was stuck on the Bears who lacked weapons around him, and he is physically the better player. He wasn't the second pick of the draft for nothing, though I had a last first round grade on him due to lack of playing time and level of competition. My edge goes to Trubisky but I hope Pickett is better.

I used to believe that, when I was a kid. Everyone who isn't a blind homer fan of your team isn't a "hater".

I definitely think some of these sites know a negative ranking for a Steeler player or the team will generate more clicks because fans will tune in to see what all the fuss is about.

Not even sure its a bias but more of a calculated move. Because we have a good amount of people on here who thrive on these stories and use them to reinforce their agenda.

The sooner we know, the better!

I think its even right now. People keep repeating how Trubisky has the edge based on past experience but I think that theory is bogus.

When we signed Mitch we had Haskins and Mason. We didn’t sign Mitch knowing Pickett would be available. All indications say our FO believed Pickett would be gone so Mitch was insurance in case we gambled on Willis or another QB in later rounds.

Once Pickett was available? Man.. he is 1A and Mitch and Mason are fighting for 1B and #2 entering camp.

I truly believe Pickett is going to have every opportunity available to not lose the job to these 2.

lmao.. if we didn’t have Pickett I would probably have fantasies of Mitch being a Kurt Warner.

but the chances of that are slim to none now. He isn’t the future. Hell, he may be trade bait this year instead of Mason since he has more experience.

I don't think the team trades MT, for a few reasons. I think there is still hope that MT can be a QB in this league, but everyone knows that MR is a backup at best. MT is better insurance and hope for the future.

I also think that the bonus is that you can install the same style of offense for both Pickett and Trubisky as they have similar skillsets. That will work if MT is the QB coming out of camp but you want to transition to KP once he is ready. I don't think that the same can be said about Rudolph.

Maybe you didn't know that pff is owned by a past rival player of the Steelers? But okay, they wouldn't let that creep into their analysis.

Perhaps you should revisit the definition of a fan. I'm a fan, not a "pretend analyst" who isn't good enough to do the job professionally. Let me help you

an enthusiastic devotee (as of a sport or a performing art) usually as a spectator.

So Collinsworth is influencing them to downgrade Steelers players? That's the hill you're going to die on? Why didn't they downgrade Baker Mayfield, who they liked for years?

Every team has a segment of fans who think PFF and national analysts "hate" their team.

Which is why if he plays well he should definitely get the edge if they are even. Build that value.

I've never seen Pickett but if this guy won the Biletnikoff Award, I wonder
whether he a] made Pickett; b] Pickett made him; c] or they're both that good. Any help out there? :)

They made each other look good. But Addison wasn’t the only one catching TD’s from Pickett.

and we have Pickens, DJ and Claypool. I imagine they will all make each other look good as well this year.

Addison had 17 TD’s.. which means another 25 TD’s went to other players.

Seriously, your post genuinely helps a PGH outsider and really helped me.
Thanks so much. :)
