Do we need all this political divisiveness?

Sure, but I think Cap is talking about inserting politics into post in random football threads or accusing people of being left or right depending on how they post about the team.

Sure that would help. But in truth it is hard enough to sway people’s pov of the Steelers. Nobody is going to be persuaded to change their politics based on arguments that end in people calling each other idiots.

Are we so obsessed with politics that WE JUST HAVE TO go there EVERYWHERE?

In my view all it does here is cloud peoples perceived motives when we go back to football.

I want to be clear, not calling for some rule about it but just to think about what that topic does to our football talk.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

Yes. This thread is a direct response to the thread on a writers take on Russell Wilson. I do not know how THAT topic relates to politics.

I dont think anyone cares if a non- Football thread is started in the non-football part of the forum.

But the REALITY that threads devolve into political fights communicates quite clearly that the Steeler opinions of SOME are not just about football.

        Otherwise, why does it happen?

When the moderators announced that they won't tolerate any more personal attacks and then didn't follow through on their new rules with action, they created the current situation. I expected this would happen most especially when I've seen several posts filled with name calling and insults. You can't expect a person to remain quiet who has any amount of pride in themselves when they are being verbally abused.

The board needs to decide if rules are important to them. If they are then start complaining to the moderators and encourage them to do their jobs or resign. That is where I stand on this issue.

Dude, I was at Steeler game in 2021 and the people sitting in front of me kept thanking Joe Biden sarcastically after every other play.

College age goofballs but this is where we are as a country these days

People just struggle to stay on topic and need to hijack conversations with political digs.

            Blame the 24/7 news cycle.

Again, I have no authority to tell people what to do but I would suggest that both sides of the political isle will dismiss each other’s FOOTBALL views because of their expressed politics.
That's not my problem, im sure there alot of posters on here that i agree with on the Steelers but disagree with on politics.

Even a thread like that wouldn't be a bother. If you see a thread titled Biden dropping out of the race, you can choose to click or pass based on if you want to engage in that discussion. If you see a thread called who will be our nickle linebacker, and that turns into a partisan political, it makes it harder to get your point that you can only have a true American patriot like Mark Robinson for that position you pinko nazi fascist centrist.

Just more proof of how political biases lead to stupid conclusions. See how it lead you to the preposterous mock idea of using ROBINSON as a NICKEL linebacker?

Politics doesn't belong on the Steelers Talk forum. Put it here on general discussion. Who wants to talk politics on a football forum?
There are some people who I agree with a lot about the Steelers, that I know I don't agree with their politics.

When we watch games and comment on them we all are motivated towards one goal. People on this forum have spoken to each other via the forum for a few years. We have a bond in the Steelers. That's the way it should be.
Politics is too subjective and it depends on your source of information. We all don't have the same facts so politics leads to arguments that can't be solved. The Steelers provide us all with same data and we can agree on that.
