Willie Colon Blames Himself for Poor Running Game

The Steelers are off to their worst start running the ball on offense in 62 years. A lot of the blame has been put on the Steelers being without starting running back Rashard Mendenhall, but the Steelers had him for 15 and a half games in 2011 and struggled to run the ball then too. In fact when the ContinueThe post Willie Colon Blames Himself for ...

Willie Parker gets into coaching, around some other NFL vets

Former Steelers running back Willie Parker’s getting into coaching, taking a job as an assistant at West Virginia Weslyan College. Parker was a member of two Super Bowl champions in Pittsburgh, rushing for 5,378 career yards. And he’s not nearly the only NFL link at the Division II school in scenic Buckhannon. He joins a staff…...</p>

Only Willie Parker until Steelers open training camp

The Pittsburgh Steelers will report to training camp in Latrobe on July 25, 2012 - only 39 days from today. We're taking a quick look at current and former Steelers as we countdown to football.

While Willie Parker's career with the Steelers ended as quickly as it began, I hope that he always holds a pretty special place in Steelers lore. That first game against the Titans in 2005 when both Jerome Bettis and Duce Staley were out with injuries is one of the all-time great performances. Parker ran for 161 yards on 22 carries and pretty much forced Bill Cowher to name him the starter.
He would of course go on to dominate the league the rest of the season, including that magical 75 yard touchdown run in Super Bowl XL.
Parker was also pretty good after 2005. He broke the team record for rushing yards in a single game, racking up 226 in only 3 quarters against Cleveland in December of 2006. He made the Pro Bowl in both 2006 and 2007 and though he battled injuries during ...

Steelers’ Willie Colon: 320 lbs of educated, big nasty!

The Steelers have finally moved Willie Colon to guard. After seven years in the league, i think Willie has been expecting this move for a while as it seems Willie and i have talked about a possible move to guard ever since he came to the Burgh.
I chatted up the “320lbs of educated Big Nasty” when he came to the Light of Life “Walk For the Homeless.” He was very enthusiastic about the move to guard and the prospects of lining up next to his good bud Maurkice Pouncey.
It was great, first of all having Willie on board as a special guest at the walk because unlike his on-field demeanor, he is very fan-friendly. Secondly, Willie has always held a special spot in my heart because he plays the game like it was meant to be played. Big Willie asks no quarter and gives no quarter.
Too, let it be known that i’ve always secretly rooted for the under-sized guys. The frustration that i used to feel from post-workout interviews with scouts in my senior year at Syracuse University after they would ...
