Dennis Dixon & Jerricho Cotchery Visit Rams, Daniel Sepulveda Told He Will Not Be Back

Pittsburgh Steelers unrestricted free agents Dennis Dixon and Jerricho Cotchery both worked out for the St. Louis Rams on Wednesday according to a Twitter report by Adam Caplan. Dixon has already made a free agent visit to the Denver Broncos while Cotchery reportedly has visited the Kansas City Chiefs since the start of free agency.

Caplan reports that Dixon was scheduled to throw to Cotchery, who played for new Rams offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer when both were with the New York Jets, during the workout. The Rams are still likely in search of a backup quarterback to Sam Bradford, Read more [...]

Jerricho Cotchery will visit with the Rams

The Rams have been mentioned as a possible landing spot for Oklahoma State wide receiver Justin Blackmon in the draft, but they aren’t putting all their wide receiver eggs in that basket. Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports that the Rams will host Jerricho Cotchery on a visit next Tuesday and Wednesday.…

Report: Steelers Free Agent Wide Receiver Jerricho Cotchery To Visit Rams Next Week

Manish Mehta from the New York Daily News reports Friday on Twitter that Pittsburgh Steelers free agent wide reciter Jerricho Cotchery will visit the St. Louis Rams on either Tuesday or Wednesday of next week. Cotchery has a link to the Rams as their new offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer was the New York Jets offensive coordinator during the time that Cotchery played in New York.

Cotchery reportedly has made at least one other free agent visit to the Kansas City Chiefs since the free agency signing period began and the Jets reportedly had some initial interest in him returning to New Read more [...]

Steelers Free Agent WR Jerricho Cotchery making a visit to the Rams

Steelers Free Agent Wide Receiver Jerricho Cotchery is making a visit to St. Louis according to Manish Mehta.  Cotchery has played for Rams offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer while in New York.  Cotchery would give Sam Bradford a good possession receiver.  The Rams look like they are headed for a ball control offense after adding Steve Smith to Danny Almendola in the receiving core.  Cotchery would fit right in to that situation.
The Steelers are taking more of a risk the longer Cotchery sits on the market.  Cotchery has received interest from the Chiefs and Jets as well.  Sooner or later Cotchery is going to get tired of waiting even if he does really want to stay with the Steelers.  Cotchery is that veteran presence the Steelers want in their locker room to help out the young receivers on the team.  Their money situation while trying to keep Mike Wallace may be tight but it would be a big loss for the team to let Cotchery go.

Report: Bears TE Kellen Davis to Visit Pittsburgh in Free Agency Trip

Photo

The Steelers let TE Matt Spaeth walk in free agency last season, and he signed with the Chicago Bears.

Now, a Bears castoff tight end allegedly will be stopping in Pittsburgh for a visit, along with trips being scheduled to Dallas and Cincinnati, according to Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio.

UPDATE: Pittsburgh Tribune Review writer Scott Brown tweeted "Steelers may have interest in TE Kellen Davis but I'm told a visit has yet to be scheduled."

Kellen Davis played four years for the Bears after being picked up in the fifth round of the 2008 draft from Michigan State.

Used mostly as a blocker in Mike Martz's offense, Davis played substantially more than Spaeth did in Chicago, and despite just 18 catches, he led the Bears' anemic receiving corps with five touchdowns.

That's three more touchdowns than a more well-known tight end named Kellen. Remember him?

At 6-foot-7, 262 pounds, his size seems like an advantage, but with the combination of former Bears TE Greg Olsen's presence followed by Martz's non-TE friendly offense, Davis simply may not have gotten a chance to showcase anything further than just in-line blocking.

Not that he'd necessarily get the chance in Pittsburgh, but a guy who catches a touchdown one out of every 3.6 catches is likely adept at catching passes inside the 10 yard line.

With a new offensive coordinator in place, perhaps any Steelers tight end may see the ball thrown their way in the red zone. It may be Davis.
