Former Steelers receiver Hines Ward, now a member of the NBC Sports family, returned to Baltimore for Sunday night’s game between the Patriots and Ravens. And Ravens fans aren’t ready to forget Ward’s time with the Steelers. On his Facebook page and during Football Night In America, Ward explained his interactions with Ravens fans...

Colbert says time hasn’t come for a veteran receiver, yet

Amid speculation from Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that a Plaxico Burress reunion could be coming with the Steelers, G.M. Kevin Colbert said that the time hasn’t come to add a veteran receiver in response to the ongoing holdout of Mike Wallace. Colbert declined to specifically address Burress, who visited with the Steelers last...

Steelers Can’t Fine Mike Wallace Should He Decide Not To Report On Time

I was asked by a reader today via email if the Pittsburgh Steelers will fine restricted free agent wide receiver Mike Wallace, should he not sign his tender and report to training camp later this month. The short answer is, no, and that is because they can't.

Although Wallace was tendered as a restricted free agent, he is still not under contract ...

Running Back Jonathan Dwyer Could Push Isaac Redman for Playing Time in the Pittsburgh Steelers Backfield

As the Pittsburgh Steelers creep toward the opening of training camp, everything remains quiet. In fact, the only news to come out recently is the lack of progress between the team and wide receiver Mike Wallace in his contract situation. When camp finally opens on July 27, one position everyone will be watching is running back. While we have written about the potential Baron Batch could bring to the offense, it is another player who could really push Isaac Redman for playing time early in the season in Rashard Medenhall’s absence. That player is Jonathan Dwyer.Of course, Redman deserves first crack at the starting position after a solid campaign in 2011. The 6-0, 230-pound fan favorite runs like a bull and performed well in spot duty recording 479 yards (4.4 YPC) and three touchdowns with his limited reps. However, as with everything on the Steelers, he will still have to earn his playing time and must play with the edge that helped him rise from undrafted rookie free agent to play...

*** Discuss this article and more at our Pittsburgh Steelers forum ***

The Steelers have given rookie tackle Mike Adams a clear path to the starting left tackle job, but he’s still going to have to prove he can handle the role this summer. Adams had to navigate his first stumbling blocks this spring thanks to the NFL’s rule barring players from joining their drafted teams until…

Steelers 2012 Training Camp Is Do Or Die Time For Linebacker Mortty Ivy

One player that I will be watching closely this preseason is Pittsburgh Steelers inside linebacker Mortty Ivy. Ivy, who was originally signed in 2009 as an undrafted free agent out of West Virginia by the Carolina Panthers, is believed to be out of practice squad eligibility now after stints on the practice squads of the Panthers, Miami Dolphins, St. Louis Rams and the Steelers. Should that indeed be the case, Ivy enters training camp in a do or die situation.

Last year in training camp there was a lot of buzz about Ivy and a few in the media liked his chances at making the Steelers 53 man roster. Read more [...]
