Steelers’ Alameda Ta’amu charged with 5 different Felonies

*** Discuss this article and more at our Pittsburgh Steelers forum ***

The Steelers have done an excellent job drafting over the years. They tend to draft high character guys, and it’s very rare that a Pittsburgh Steeler has his name in the news for something negative.
Rookie nose tackle must not have received the message that the Steelers were a prideful organization on Sunday morning as he was charged with mul…

Ta’amu arrest puts Steelers in a pickle

*** Discuss this article and more at our Pittsburgh Steelers forum ***

The Pittsburgh Steelers, like most sports teams, have a long history of making exceptions for key players who get in trouble and making examples out of scrubs. For the Steelers, it’s unclear where defensive tackle Alameda Ta’amu fits.  For now, he’s a scrub.  But he was a fourth-round pick who may have real potential.  So&#8230…

DeCastro, Adams & Ta’amu To Join Steelers Next Week

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) — Pittsburgh Steelers draft picks David DeCastro, Mike Adams and Alameda Ta’amu will join the team for organized team activites next week.

It was made official Tuesday.

All three were still at their respective schools finishing up the semester. Their presence is valued, considering each will likely serve a major role next season.

Both DeCastro (guard) and Adams (tackle) could be starters come Week 1. Accordingly, Ta’amu could see snaps along the defensive line depending on nose tackle Casey Hampton’s recovery from offseason knee surgery.

DeCastro is the only draft pick remaining unsigned, though that could be wrapped up once he joins the team next week in Pittsburgh.

“Battle of the bulge”: Steelers McLendon vs Ta’amu vs Hampton

*** Discuss this article and more at our Pittsburgh Steelers forum ***

As we remember our soldiers this past Memorial Day weekend, I was thinking also about a topic to write about. I tend to do that a lot, multi tasking.  While surfing through Google (man Mr. Google is amazing isn’t he?) I came across some information and quotes on Steelers 3rd yr NT Steve McLendon. However before going any further let’s be clear, by referencing a military topic in the title of this piece, I’m not insinuating that any Steeler or NFL player on any other team should be referred to as a “soldier” or “warrior”. One of our good friends, Craig Wolfley, is very keen to that fact. His son is currently serving in the military, something he is very proud of. No sports player anywhere should be referred with those monikers. Our fighting men and women, both present and past, are the real hero’s and warriors to be proud of.
Still though when you look at the Steelers current group of nose tackles; McLendon, Hampton, and Steve McLendon …
