Can Mike Wallace Be Happy Playing In Pittsburgh?

Lets face it Mike Wallace wanted the Pittsburgh Steelers to show him the money this off-season. The Steelers haven’t done that. The question is Can Wallace be happy playing for a team that doesn’t think he is worth the kind of money he wanted? Wallace is a talented receiver, the Steelers have always took a hard stand when it comes to contract negotiations. Pittsburgh has had a rich history in picking guys who turn into NFL star receivers, Wallace is one of those guys.
Training camps start this month and Wallace is still a Steeler. Will He come into camp and play his heart out for a team that doesn’t want to pay him? There is no question about the fact Wallace can help the Pittsburgh Steelers win. Why the Steelers won’t pay him the money he thinks he is worth is anyone’s guess.  The Steelers made a lot of changes in the off-season to their offense. The Steelers will come into this training camp with lots of new things in place. If Mike Wallace is truly U...

Pittsburgh Steelers and NFL weighing option of playing a regular season game in Ireland

*** Discuss this article and more at our Pittsburgh Steelers forum ***

In this down period of Pittsburgh Steelers news, it is amazing the stories that can make headlines. Interesting enough, the latest story to create a buzz is more about future scheduling, vice being player related. That question, could Steelers play a regular-season game in Ireland?Absolutely, and they should. Of course, that game should be against a franchise that struggles in attendance during home games instead of at the expense of the rabid Heinz Field crowd. Evidently, Dan Rooney agrees, and has gone as far as visiting Dublin's Croke Park with NFL Officials to determine the feasibility.

In an interview with BBC News Rooney states, "I think sometime very soon it will happen and I think the commissioner is interested in working something out and, sure, I'd like to see the Steelers involved." This idea should not come, as a surprise to any Steelers fan considering that next to Pittsburgh, Ireland may be the international heart of the Steelers franchise, with Roo...

Could the Steelers Find Their Way to Playing a Game in Ireland?

The NFL for whatever reason keeps trying to push games overseas. The Steelers have ties to Ireland, and the BBC wrote a quick piece about how the Steelers may find their way into playing a game there due to Dan Rooney.

Notre Dame playing in Ireland made for a perfect match, but, with Dan Rooney’s role as Ambassador to Ireland, the idea of the Steelers playing in the Emerald Isle might pick up steam. Since 2005, the NFL has played a regular season game — a competitive mid-season match rather than a friendly or pre-season game — at Wembley Stadium in London, in front of enthusiastic crowds of around 80,000 each time. It’s an experiment set to continue in October, when the New England Patriots will face the St Louis Rams. The success and appeal of this ‘exported’ fixture means that other cities now clamour to host a game, and with the NFL now considering a second fixture overseas, Dublin is emerging as a prime candidate.

Ward Releases Statement About Release: “I Am Looking Forward to Playing in the NFL Again”

Hines Ward released the following statement today about his release from the Steelers:

“This isn’t how I wanted this chapter of my career to end. I did everything in my power to remain a Steeler and finish what I started here 14 years ago. I want to thank the organization, my teammates and coaches and everyone who made my run as a Steeler the best years of my life. To Mr. Rooney, thank you for allowing me to play for one of the greatest organizations in the world. To my fans and in particular Steeler Nation, thank you for your support and all the great memories. I gave my heart and soul for you every down and I will always bleed black and gold.

“I do feel that I still have more football left in me and I am looking forward to playing in the NFL again this upcoming season.”

When it comes to whether or not the Steelers made the right move releasing Ward, Hoke said that even he knew the Steelers needed to get younger, and that’s what they’re in the process of doing right now.

Ryan Clark Discusses Not Playing In Denver, How He’ll Help Team Prepare

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) — Andrew Fillipponi and Clark opened things up discussing the number one question on everyone’s mind regarding Ryan, his status for this week’s game against the Broncos and how he’s dealing with the news that he won’t be allowed to play.

Clark wanted to play because it’s the playoffs, but Coach Tomlin made the decision saying he wouldn’t let his son play under these circumstances, so he won’t let him play despite team doctor’s clearing him.

Given that he’s not playing this week because of his sickle-cell trait, Ryan told us what his week will be like leading up to the game, and how he’ll be working on the scout team to help his teammates get ready.

Ryan also talked about the Broncos offense saying it’s an “unorthodox” NFL offense because you’ll get your Quarterback killed running it.

Tomlin says Ben has a “shot” at playing Sunday

With the Steelers currently the No. 5 seed in the AFC playoff field and in position to climb all the way to No. 1, they’d benefit from the presence of quarterback Ben Roethlisberger on Sunday at Cleveland. And they may have it. Coach Mike Tomlin said Tuesday that Roethsliberger, who suffered a sprained ankle 19…

Hines Ward Could be Playing His Last Game at Heinz Field Saturday

The Pittsburgh Steelers play their last home game of the year tomorrow.  It could also very well be the last home game at Heinz Field ever for Hines Ward.  Ward has fallen to the bottom of the depth chart for the Steelers and with his salary over $ 4 million next season he could likely be playing his last game in a Steelers uniform.
Ward needs 9 catches to get to 1000 for his career.  This being probably his last home game I hope the Steelers blow out the Rams and Ward gets thrown as many balls as possible.  I do not want to see Hines in any uniform next year if he does not play for the Steelers.  Without the catches that is a possibility.  With the catches he will most likely retire a Steeler rather then being released.
Ward has been a Steeler through and through.  He has been the best blocking wide receiver the game has ever seen.  Ward also is almost to 1000 catches and has over 12,000 yards for a team that ran the ball his entire career.  The Steelers were not known as a passing ...
