Will The Steelers Make Offers To Any Of Their RFA’s?

The Steelers have plenty of work to do in order to get ready for free agency in a few weeks, and from all accounts it sounds like it’s going to be tough for the team to avoid losing most of their 18 free agents. Today Ed Bouchette wrote about the Steelers restricted free agents, which [...]...

Current Steelers offensive line offers insight into the future

Far be it from me to look ahead to 2013 for the Steelers, since they are still right in the thick of the playoff chase, but some things are coming into focus nonetheless. It’s funny how things work out sometimes in the NFL, but it’s also not exactly an odd ball occurrence either. Players get injured, underachieve, or the front office makes deci...

Ike Taylor offers some advice to Mike Wallace

*** Discuss this article and more at our Pittsburgh Steelers forum ***

We’ve been talking about Mike Wallace’s desire for a new long-term contract for so long that it has been hard to remember that there’s actually a deadline of some note rapidly approaching in the wide receiver’s impasse with the Steelers. If Wallace doesn’t sign his restricted free agent tender by June 15th, the Steelers can…

Mike Wallace Still with the Pittsburgh Steelers After No Teams Make Offers

Mike Wallace is still with the Pittsburgh Steelers, but the question now is when exactly he will join the team.
The deadline for another team to make an offer to Wallace passed on Friday with no offers to the receiver. That is good news for the Steelers because Wallace now must stay with Pittsburgh unless they choose to trade or release him, but that is highly unlikely.
However, Wallace told someone within the Steelers organization that he will not sign his tender until he has to. This could mean that Wallace will not be with the team until after training camp begins. Wallace isn’t happy with the 1st round tender that Pittsburgh is offering him, $ 2.7 million, and is seeking a long-term deal.
One can’t fault Wallace for wanting to get paid after he outplayed his initial rookie contract. Wallace is a top 10 receiver in the NFL and wants to be paid as one. The problem for Wallace is that Pittsburgh has never overpaid a player who they think is replaceable. The Steelers have two very g...

Wallace Gets No Offers, To Be A Steeler in 2012

Welcome back Mike. Like it or not.

Steelers speedster Mike Wallace was hoping for the pay day of his life this offseason, instead he will come back to the Steelers and play for about $ 2.7 million once he smartens up and inks his tender from the team.

Wallace will stay with the Steelers after a Friday midnight deadline passed with no team offering the restricted free agent an offer sheet.

The Steelers did not make Wallace their franchise player, which would have required them to pay him about $ 9.5 million for the upcoming season. Instead, they gave him a first-round tender, which meant a team would have had to give up a first-round draft pick to sign him.

Last season Wallace had team highs of 72 catches, 1,193 yards and eight touchdowns. He looks to want to fight inking his tender, as he hasn’t signed it, and hasn’t reported to offseason workouts.

The WR has until June 15 to do so before the Steelers can cut the tender to $ 577,500. Steelers president Art Rooney II previously said the team wants to sign Wallace to a long-term contract.

That’s a longshot, but after Wallace got no offers, he may see that the grass is going to be greener with the Steelers, and hopefully the two sides can agree on a deal.
