NFL Rumors: Mike Wallace Might Hold Out Well Into Training Camp

After months of constant waiting, Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Mike Wallace still hasn’t received a long-term offer from the Steelers’ front office. The deadline has come and gone for Wallace to sign the first-round tender offer, and Pittsburgh has decided not to decrease the $ 2.77 million that was put on the table. The Pro Bowl […]…

Mike Wallace Might Have His Stats Confused

On Tuesday Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Ike Taylor told John Harris on Trib Live Radio that restricted free agent wide receiver Mike Wallace told him while the two were together in Las Vegas this past weekend that he had more yards than both Jerry Rice and Randy Moss through each their first three years in the league. Taylor told Harris that Wallace said, “Man I got more yards than Jerry Rice and Randy Moss in three years. From their first three years.” Taylor continued on, “And that’s a stat I didn’t know. So I’m looking at it like, shoot, I cant really argue with you.”

Rashard Mendenhall might be done in Pittsburgh

According to Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, there’s a good chance that running back Rashard Mendehall may have carried the ball for the last time as a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Steelers don’t expect Mendenhall to contribute much, if anything on the field this coming season, after tearing his ACL late in the 2011  season.  The 2012 season is also the last season that he’s under contract for, so he’ll be a free agent at this time next year.  I wouldn’t expect the Steelers to re-sign him at that time.
The Steelers have gone away from the run like most NFL teams and could likely find someone to replace him fairly easily.

Rashard Mendenhall Might Not Be Ready For Next Season

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — Although the 2012 NFL season is still seven months away, it appears as if running back Rashard Mendenhall might not be able to play after his ACL surgery.

That was news Monday from Steelers Director of Football Operations Kevin Colbert who met with print reporters and said, he’s never sure about ACL surgeries.

Colbert says it normally takes a full year to recover after that operation and keep in mind Mendenhall had his in January.

So, at this point, his status is up in the air, but Colbert says he feels good about his stable of backs from Isaac Redman, John Clay, Jonathan Dwyer and Baron Batch.

Colbert also addressed wide receiver Hines Ward and his status, saying no decision has been made on whether or not to restructure Ward’s contract and bring him back next season.

Steelers coordinator Arians might not return to team

Ben Roethlisberger isn’t going to be happy with a bit of breaking news in Pittsburgh. Bruce Arians Might Not Return to Steelers

*** Discuss this article and more at our Pittsburgh Steelers forum ***

The Steelers may be without an offensive coordinator here shortly.  Bruce Arians is rumored to not be returning next season.  No one knows whether it is retirement or if Arians is being let go just yet.  Most think it is the former.  Arians has talked about retiring before for health reasons.
I was always 50/50 on Arians.  I like his scheme and what we could do with this offense but it never completely gelled.  His play calling was my biggest issue.  Teams knew what was coming just by the way we lined up.  Even Phil Simms during the playoff game was calling out plays before the Steelers would run them.  We also struggled in the Red Zone.  That was always hard to deal with.
Arians did bring this team to a new level though.  He will be missed.  Especially by Ben Roethlisberger.  These two had a great relationship.  Ben had his best seasons under Arians.  They did a lot together.
As this was a surprise I will look through today and see what I can find for an offensive coordinator out t…

Arians Might Not Return Next Season

*** Discuss this article and more at our Pittsburgh Steelers forum ***

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) — Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator Bruce Arians may not return in 2012, according to a report by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s Gerry Dulac.

Arians, 57, considered retiring before last season. He is in the final year of his contract.

Arians is highly criticized by some fans for his play calling. Those cries have gotten louder since the Steelers early playoff exit, as many note the offense’s inability to put up points and score touchdowns in the redzone.

He has been the Steelers offensive coordinator since 2007, appearing in two Super Bowls and winning one of them.

Mike Tomlin said in his season-ending press conference that he expects Arians to return next season.

On The Steelers: Hoke’s career might be over

It is against their nature that defensive linemen will discuss holes because their job is to prevent them. As much as they wanted to, they could neither prevent the hole in their line and meeting room Tuesday nor stop talking about the reason for it, teammate Chris Hoke.
