Steelers OL Coach Sean Kugler Not Opposed To Starting DeCastro & Adams If Both Can Win Jobs

The Pittsburgh Steelers are wrapping up their third and final OTA session this week prior to the mandatory mini-camp that takes place next and offensive line coach Sean Kugler evidently talked to the media today after practice.

According to Scott Brown of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, Kugler said today that he'd like to have a starting five in place by start of training camp at the end of July. This statement is not too surprising by Kugler, but it figures that the starting five that end mini-camp next week will likely line up as starters once training camp gets underway at the end of July. Olsavsky and Goodwin to Chat with Other Teams About Jobs

The Steelers announced that they have granted permission for defensive assistant Jerry Olsavsky and offensive assistant Harold Goodwin to interview for openings with other teams.

A former NFL linebacker who excelled on special teams, Olsavsky has been with the Steelers for the last two seasons and was granted permission to interview for an unspecified position with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Goodwin has spent the last five seasons working with the Steelers’ offensive line and pro scouting and has been granted permission to interview with the Indianapolis Colts and Chicago Bears. Goodwin, whose brother Jonathan plays for the San Francisco 49ers, spent three seasons (2004-06) as an assistant offensive line coach with the Bears.

Steelers Coaches Rumored For College Jobs

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) — Two Steelers assistants are reportedly in the conversation for college head coaching positions.

Quarterbacks coach Randy Fichtner is in the mix for the Memphis job, and the Memphis Commerical Appeal reports he’s interested in the position. He was a graduate assistant at Memphis from 1990-93 and offensive coordinator from 2001-06.

Fichtner has been with the Steelers for five years and has coached the quarterbacks since 2010.

Steelers running backs coach Kirby Wilson is rumored to be interviewing at Illinois for the Illini’s head coaching vacancy. Wilson played at Illinois in the early 1980s and has been with the Steelers organization since 2007.
