And Ravens fans aren’t ready to forget Ward’s time with the Steelers. On his Facebook page and during Football Night In America, Ward explained his interactions with Ravens fans...

Hines Ward: Players are learning they gave Goodell too much power

When the NFL players accepted the new Collective Bargaining Agreement last year, only one of the 32 teams dissented: The Steelers, whose players voted 78-6 against the CBA. Now one player on last year’s Steelers team says the rest of the players are finding out why they should have been more skeptical. Hines Ward told…

Hines Ward Says He Thinks Bounties Went On Throughout The League

*** Discuss this article and more at our Pittsburgh Steelers forum ***

Former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward said last Friday on WFNZ Radio in Charlotte that he thinks bounty type systems went on throughout the league, but that he also thinks that players need to just deal with the discipline that Roger Goodell hands down now because of the power that they gave him when they ratified the new CBA last off-season.

When Ward was asked specifically on The Mack Attack Show if he thought bounties went on throughout the league, Ward replied, "I think it went on throughout the league, but at the same time it's uncalled for," said Ward. "The teams, such as Read more [...]

Gotham Rogues Hines Ward Action Figure Set For November Release

Photo

It's probably not a coincidence McFarlane Toys is releasing their "Dark Knight Rises" Hines Ward Gotham Rogues action figure right in time for Christmas.

But it's awesome, all the same.

Ward is captured in still motion, looking over his right shoulder for a pass, hands in perfect position, tattoo distinct and replicate of the one the NFL saw Ward flashing for the last several years.

Perhaps it would have made more sense if Ward was coming back to the ball, shoulders square with the line of scrimmage, and snaring one over his head, but this is a bit more magnanimous.

Of course, the ideal situation would be Ward lowering the boom on some defensive player, particularly someone in purple, smiling the whole time, much to the chagrin of the fans of the opposing team, but that's neither here nor there.

What we know is Ward will be on NBC Sports this fall, and have an action figure released in November. Try to top that, Adam Schefter.

Hines Ward To Join NBC’s Football Night in America Crew

It’s interesting – if not intentional – that NBC Sports would hire both lawyer-contact-hater Mike Florio and former Dirtiest Player in the NFL designee Rodney Harrison for its primetime football show, "Football Night in America." Contrast is important for talk-show style analysis.

Now, add the former Steeler to the mix – an enemy to both Harrison and Florio, or so it may seem – stir contents and watch them boil.

Former Steelers WR Hines Ward will join all 982 analysts on NBC’s pregame show this season, the same show that once hired Steelers RB Jerome Bettis upon his retirement.

How much Ward cares about the opinions of Florio and former Patriots hit man Harrison remains to be seen, and while it’s most likely they’ll do far more over-emphasized laughing at dumb jokes than combative rivalry-fueled back-and-forth, the dynamic is still interesting between Harrison and Ward.

Florio just reads the injury reports anyway.

Ward and Harrison clearly were two players who saw the physical nature of the game and appreciated it. How much they’ll ever dip into that topic will be worth keeping an eye on this year.

Technically retired from the NFL, receiver Hines Ward’s football career has one final chapter.  He appears as a member of the Gotham Rogues in The Dark Knight Rises (July 20), running with the ball as the field behind him disappears into a chasm. Antonio Brown takes over Hines Ward’s old locker

Antonio Brown is expected to take over Hines Ward’s old role in the Steelers offense.  He also is going to be taking over Ward’s old locker as well according to a tweet by Mark Kaboly of the Pittsburgh Tribune Review.  Brown has moved into the space vacated by Ward now that Ward is retired.  It just makes sense.
Brown is the new guy that Steelers fan are falling in love with.  He plays with that same passion as Ward.  He never takes a play off.  He makes the big catch when it is needed.  He even has that signature smile that Hines showed all those years.  He is a true Steelers just like Ward.
The locker of Ward is something that should be passed down.  Brown would be my first choice to get it.  I am glad he did.
