Polamalu wins appeal on $10,000 fine for phone call

Pittsburgh Steelers safety Troy Polamalu will not have to pay for his expensive phone call.
Polamalu broke NFL rules by using a phone during a game this season, drawing a $ 10,000 fine for his action. League rules prohibit the use of cell phones on the bench from 90 minutes prior to kickoff to the conclusion of the game.
What was so urgent that he needed to borrow the team trainer’s cell phone? Well, Polamalu was calling his wife, Theodora, to let her know that he was OK after taking a knee to the head while stopping Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew during the fourth quarter of a game in October.
The 2010 NFL Defensive Player of the Year, Polamalu promptly appealed the penalty and won his argument on Thursday.
At the time of the infraction, Steelers coach Mike Tomlin ripped the league for lacking common sense.
“He has had a history of concussion-like symptoms in the past,” Tomlin told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette at the time. “(She) was conc…
