Dennis Dixon & Jerricho Cotchery Visit Rams, Daniel Sepulveda Told He Will Not Be Back

Pittsburgh Steelers unrestricted free agents Dennis Dixon and Jerricho Cotchery both worked out for the St. Louis Rams on Wednesday according to a Twitter report by Adam Caplan. Dixon has already made a free agent visit to the Denver Broncos while Cotchery reportedly has visited the Kansas City Chiefs since the start of free agency.

Caplan reports that Dixon was scheduled to throw to Cotchery, who played for new Rams offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer when both were with the New York Jets, during the workout. The Rams are still likely in search of a backup quarterback to Sam Bradford, Read more […]

Jerricho Cotchery will visit with the Rams

The Rams have been mentioned as a possible landing spot for Oklahoma State wide receiver Justin Blackmon in the draft, but they aren’t putting all their wide receiver eggs in that basket. Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports that the Rams will host Jerricho Cotchery on a visit next Tuesday and Wednesday.…

Report: Steelers Free Agent Wide Receiver Jerricho Cotchery To Visit Rams Next Week

Manish Mehta from the New York Daily News reports Friday on Twitter that Pittsburgh Steelers free agent wide reciter Jerricho Cotchery will visit the St. Louis Rams on either Tuesday or Wednesday of next week. Cotchery has a link to the Rams as their new offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer was the New York Jets offensive coordinator during the time that Cotchery played in New York.

Cotchery reportedly has made at least one other free agent visit to the Kansas City Chiefs since the free agency signing period began and the Jets reportedly had some initial interest in him returning to New Read more […]

Steelers Free Agent WR Jerricho Cotchery making a visit to the Rams

Steelers Free Agent Wide Receiver Jerricho Cotchery is making a visit to St. Louis according to Manish Mehta.  Cotchery has played for Rams offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer while in New York.  Cotchery would give Sam Bradford a good possession receiver.  The Rams look like they are headed for a ball control offense after adding Steve Smith to Danny Almendola in the receiving core.  Cotchery would fit right in to that situation.
The Steelers are taking more of a risk the longer Cotchery sits on the market.  Cotchery has received interest from the Chiefs and Jets as well.  Sooner or later Cotchery is going to get tired of waiting even if he does really want to stay with the Steelers.  Cotchery is that veteran presence the Steelers want in their locker room to help out the young receivers on the team.  Their money situation while trying to keep Mike Wallace may be tight but it would be a big loss for the team to let Cotchery go.

Report: Steelers Want to Bring Back WR Jerricho Cotchery

Pat Kirwan at CBS Sports kicks off the day with note about the Steelers and how they want to bring back WR Jerricho Cotchery. The former Jets WR, who played well down the stretch last season, remains on the free agent market. A market that still also has Mike Wallace on it at the WR spot, despite the fact he’s a restricted free agent.

I like what Cotchery did last season, and he could be even more valuable this year with Hines Ward gone. Add Ben Roethlisberger to the list that wants to see Cotchery back in Pittsburgh in 2012.

“Without Hines, I think you have to do everything you can to sign Jerricho back,” Roethlisberger said. “He’s not only a veteran leader in that room but a really good player. I’d love to see him come back because he’s a really good receiver and I like what he brings to the team.”

Last season Cotchery had 16 catches for 237 yards with two scores, and a catch for a 31-yard score in the AFC Wild Card game at Denver. If he does come back, and is healthy, I would expect more like the season before in NY, when he had 41 grabs for 433 yards with two scores.

Chiefs could catch Cotchery

Veteran receiver Jerricho Cotchery, who eventually assumed the Hines Ward role in the Steelers’ offense last year, could be finding a role in the Chiefs’ offense in 2012. Roethlisberger pays tribute to Ward, wants Cotchery back

Ben Roethlisberger remember stepping into the huddle in his first year as a starting NFL quarterback. “He was Hines Ward, one of the best receivers in the game. I got a chance to be in the huddle with him and Jerome Bettis. He made me better. It didn’t matter if I threw a good ball…

WR Cotchery Hopes to Get a Multi-Year Deal

Steelers wide receiver Jerricho Cotchery is scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent in March, but he’d like to be back with the Steelers on a multi-year contract, Jenny Vrentas of The Star-Ledger reports.

“In exit meetings, it was pretty much stated that they were very pleased with me, who I was on the field and off the field,” Cotchery said Tuesday at TEST Sports Clubs in Martinsville, New Jersey. “I’m everything that they thought I would be, so from their standpoint, they definitely would want me back. And I expressed the same desire, so we’ll see what happens.”

A fourth-round pick out of North Carolina State in 2004 by the New York Jets, Cotchery caught 358 passes for 4,514 yards and 18 touchdowns during his first seven seasons in the NFL. The Jets granted his request for a release on August 4 and the 29-year-old visited the Steelers and Baltimore Ravens, signing with the the Steelers on August 11.

In 13 games for the Steelers, Cotchery caught 16 passes for 237 yards and two touchdowns, a sharp decline after averaging 66 receptions, 840 yards and nearly four touchdowns over the previous five seasons. Cotchery caught one pass in the Steelers’ 29-23 overtime loss to the Broncos in the playoffs, a 31-yard touchdown that forced the overtime period.

The Steelers have Mike Wallace and Antonio Brown as the starters, and are high on Emmanuel Sanders as the No. 3 receiver. Veteran Hines Ward has expressed his desire to remain with the Steelers and is willing to restructure his contract to remain with the team. With little value on special teams, a multi-year offer from the Steelers may not happen.

Jerricho Cotchery Hoping For 4 Or 5 Year Deal To Return To Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver that has been in the news the most this past week has of course been Hines Ward. The Steelers have yet to make a decision on Ward returning in 2012 according to Steelers GM Kevin Colbert on Monday and Colbert also added that the Steelers likely will not be able to sign any of their own free agents before March 13th because of salary cap issues. One of their unrestricted free agents that they might be hoping to resign is wide receiver Jerricho Cotchery, who they signed to one-year deal last August.
