Steelers vs Titans Report Card

By Tyler Sweet Make it stop! Watching the Pittsburgh Steelers 2013 preseason was one of the most painful things to watch. That was, until I watched the game yesterday against the Tennessee Titans. Before we get into my grades for the game, let me just say that the loss of Maurkice Pouncey, LaRod Stephens-Howling, and […]...

Steelers vs Panthers Report Card

By Tyler Sweet The final preseason game is traditionally a game in which final roster spots are earned and the biggest concern is walking off the field healthy. If you want to grade last nights performance based soley on the health of the team, then I guess the game was a success! Unfortunately, although the […]...

Steelers Chiefs Post Game Report Card

By Tyler Sweet The Steelers came out tonight and were ready to go. In front of a home crowd, they were hitting hard, and played very aggressive. The outcome may not have been what they were looking for, but the preseason is all about improvements. 1st Team Offense The first team offense knew they had […]...

Steelers vs Giants Report Card

By Tyler Sweet Grading a preseason NFL game is like grading the performance of a puppy trying to do tricks. Mistakes are to be expected but kept to a minimun. Last night against the New York Giants, the Steelers did not impress too many people. Mike Tomlin referred to this matchup as a “test”, therefore […]...

Wild Card Game Open Thread: Cincinnati at Houston

The Bengals are up 7-0 after RB Cedric Benson scored from a yard out.

More importantly, the North Dakota State Bison defeated Sam Houston State 17-6 to capture the school's first FCS National Championship. Pretty impressive for the Fargo-based school that has only had Division I affiliation since 2003 (when a certain editor-in-chief of the school's newspaper wrote 1,000 words in support of the move, calling for a national championship within 10 years).

Yes, it's patently obvious I'm just filling up space right now. So once again, NDSU, 2011 FCS National Champions.

If you want to stop in and say congratulations, or even just comment on a game that already has a ton of big plays (and dubious penalties), feel free to do so.

We can even get into Pittsburgh's first Wild Card round game since 2007. The team (what's left of it) is in Denver preparing for tomorrow's 4:15 p.m. kickoff.

It's a rich tapestry of activity here today, so let's get to it.

Wild Card Keys to Victory: Steelers at Broncos

Tomorrow is game time.  It is the start of the second season.  No game gets bigger then the one in front you from here on out.  The Steelers are headed to Denver to take on the Broncos.  They will be shorthanded without starting All Pro Center Maurkice Pouncey and Starting Safety Ryan Clark.  They will have to pick up for these two on both sides of the ball.  Here is what they need to do to make sure they get the W.
Keys to Victory:

Win the Turnover Battle- Denver does not win when they do not win the turnover battle.  Attack Tebow.  Strip the ball.  Pick it off.  Do whatever you need to do to get the ball away from the Broncos.  It will lead to victory.
Make Tebow Throw the Ball-  The Broncos want run the ball.  That is what they do.  They try to keep Tebow from throwing as much as possible.  Take away the run on first and second down and make Tebow put it up in the air.
Block the Edges- Keep Dumervil and Miller away from Roethlisberger and you do not have to worry about much othe...

PFT’s wild card picks

With matching 10-6 records in Week 17, I finished the regular season seven games behind Rosenthal. But there are still 11 games to go.  (Counting the Pro Bowl, there are 12.) So I’m saying there’s a chance. . . . For the regular season, Rosenthal is 169-87.  I’m 162-94. Bengals at Texans Florio’s take:  With…
