Roethsliberger sprains his ankle, waits for Haley to blow his top

We’d hate to see how many injuries Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger would have if he weren’t wearing a red jersey in practice. Already suffering (so he claims) from a partially torn rotator cuff in his shoulder, Roethlisberger sprained his left ankle at practice on Saturday after being stepped on by a defensive lineman, according...

The only similarity between the end of the last two Steelers seasons is that center Maurkice Pouncey wasn’t on the field either time. A sprained ankle against the Jets in the AFC Championship Game in January 2011 caused Pouncey to miss the Super Bowl loss to the Packers. The ankle never really healed during the…

In a radio interview last week, Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger suggested that the 49ers targeted his injured ankle during the December game between the teams. He said he thought the 49ers were guilty of doing “some extra” when they came after him, presumably as part of an attempt to get him out of the contest.…

Roethlisberger Says He’ll Play in Pro Bowl with Bum Ankle

Despite his injured ankle, Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger insists on playing in the Pro Bowl this coming Sunday.
It has been said on www.nfl.com that the nine-year veteran was seen slightly favoring his injured ankle during the AFC’s team practice on Wednesday, but Roethlisberger says he feels alright.
“Not bad,” Roethlisberger said about his ankle. “Lots of time to rest. Still a little swollen, but it’s all right.”
Roethlisberger does think that this is a risk worth taking, considering that he may not play much anyway.
“We’ve rested it long enough now,” he said. “Coaches know. It’s not one of those games where I’m going to have to scramble away from people. It’ll hopefully be a quick in and out.”
This will be Roethlisberger’s second appearance in the Pro Bowl in his career.

Roethlisberger Denies Taking any Painkilling Injection For His Ankle

Ben Roethlisberger said he didn’t take any painkilling injections before playing through a high-ankle sprain in a 20-3 loss to the 49ers on Monday night according to Scott Brown of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

“We heard that (ESPN analyst) Steve Young and those guys say that before pre-game, ‘Oh, he’ll go shoot it up.’ No we don’t do that,” Roethlisberger said. “They would never put me out there and endanger me or anybody on this team. There was no injection there was two Tylenols and two Advil.”

That Roethlisberger took anything stronger for the pain caused by he injury to hs left ankle was a source of contention in a quiet Steelers’ locker room. As he wrapped Roethlisberger’s foot before the veteran quarterback talked to reporters, Steelers head trainer John Norwig said angrily, “He played without a needle.”

Said Roethlisberger, “I just think it’s silly that they assume that’s what you’ve got to do. Obviously we could have done that and it would have helped a lot but that’s kind of crazy to take that chance because you can further injure yourself.”
