Steelers WR/KR Antonio Brown Named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week

Steelers WR Antonio Brown has received heaps of praise from Steeler Nation, and Wednesday, he received some national recognition.

Brown, a second-year receiver and return man, was named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week on the speed of a 60-yard punt return touchdown in Week 13 against Cincinnati.

Brown, who is second in the AFC with 12.2 yards per punt return, took a kickoff back for a score against Tennessee in 2010, but this is his first punt return touchdown.

Brown also has 50 catches for 774 yards and a touchdown receiving this season.

While fellow second-year man Emmanuel Sanders has recently taken over kick return duties (likely in an effort to keep Brown fresh), Brown is averaging 27.8 yards a kick return this year, with 17 returns of 20+ yards. Both numbers are among the best in the NFL.

Brown’s touchdown last week accentuated a thorough thrashing of the visiting Bengals, and special teams highlighted the win. Along with his touchdown, the Steelers blocked a field goal and forced and recovered a fumble.
