Pittsburgh Steelers Minicamp Open Thread: No Injuries, Please

With minicamp opening for the Steelers today, the main thought really is just hoping no one gets hurt.

A high school teammate of mine went on to play for the Houston Texans, he blew out his knee twice in minicamp, so maybe I’m focusing more on that, but let’s just hope for a healthy, productive training session.

The savvy veterans know enough to hold themselves off after a certain number of reps are received (just like Santonio…ahem), and the younger guys, while anxious to impress their coaches and earn respect from their teammates, only need to go hard enough to show they’re capable of doing it.

When the rubber meets the road, the practice time should be spent as much with mental activities than physical ones. It’s about communicating and making sure everyone is on the same page. With a new offensive coordinator, eyes will be on that side of the ball, so hopefully, Todd Haley and Mike Tomlin stress the mental reps as much as the physical ones.

What’s important for you to see in these sessions? What do you want to hear about? List off some questions you’d ask if you had a microphone and the willing audience of Steelers coaches and players during the next three days.
