Going Fishing With Brett Keisel
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Pittsburgh Steelers defensive lineman Brett Keisel took a group of lucky contest winners fishing today at a sporting club in Bridgeville.
If there’s anyone in southwestern Pennsylvania that looks more like a mountain man than Keisel, he’s hard to find.
“I grew up like, ‘…This is so much fun being out in the wild and see shooting stars and catching fish,’ you know that’s what I love doing and that’s what I’m trying to pass on to him,” Pittsburgh Steeler Brett Keisel said.
The Steelers’ defensive lineman grew up out west and today he shared his love of the great outdoors with a few lucky winners.
“Why not do something charitable where people can bid on coming out spending the morning with us fishing you know we’re out here fishing anyways so we might as well do something to benefit others,” he said.
The fishermen and ladies won the chance to fish with Keisel at charity auctions. The money will support the Challenge Program, Habitat for Humanity and Variety Pittsburgh.
“This is like the trifecta though we got, Steelers’ Brett Keisel, fishing instead of work and we’re helping out the children’s Variety. It doesn’t get any better than that,” said Tammy Frankhouser.
While some of the fishermen were quite experienced, others were just starting out like 4-year-old Joseph Massaro, who is hooked on fishing.
“I think it’s just the quietness of fishing and watching them just take everything in for the first time and you’re sitting back and observing and thinking back to how it felt when you were a kid, so it’s all good,” said Stephanie Massaro, Joseph’s mother.
