He wasn't fully recovered from his injuries according to the article.

And his hobbled ankle killed us the year before that. Maybe this year he can play all 16+ games healthy.

Injuries go with the territory with Ben. His style of play makes it so. People in Green Bay used to say that you took the bad Brett Favre (the one who set the all time NFL record for picks) with the good Brett Favre (mvp's, the first ring there in 30 years)... I think the same applies to Ben. Big guy who's hard to bring down, extends plays, takes hits. He will eventually get hurt and miss time. The fact that his O Line has been continual patchwork for the last 3 seasons hasn't particularly helped in that regard.

It is ironic, though, that he would sustain the most serious injury of his career in the year when they finally shortened up the passing game and tried to do something about all the hits he takes. He was sacked 13 times in 10 games prior to the injury in the KC game.

His injuries occurred on plays where he was running around and didn't unload the ball. When he was sticking to the system, he was fine.

Thanks Ben "captain of the obvious" Roethlisberger. Anybody watching the games could tell that. Add to that, he was wearing a specialized rib protector.

However, his injury is no excuse for his very poor play post injury. If he didn't have the arm strength then he needs to have the brains to know he shouldn't have thrown that pass when their was a high percentage of an INT. IMO, he actually played worse mentally than he played physically. Then again, we are talking about the same QB that will consistently give up a sack on 3rd down and take us out of field goal range instead of throwing the ball away. Brains and Roethlisberger don't necessarily go together.

Seriously. Can we get him to take a vow of silence in the offseason. I cringe every time I see he's saying something to the media.

Yeah Ben's a dummy. Hopefully they'll dump him and let Hometown Charlie start. Now there's a genius for you.

If Ben knew his arm wasn't up to strength, why was he attempting to make throws that require full arm strength? IIRC, at the time, he was saying that he was fine...so was he being untruthful with the team?

I love Ben, but this news doesn't sit well with me. I'd a lot rather he'd said nothing about this, than to hear that he cost us a couple of crucial games trying to make throws he had no business trying to make (or maybe he shouldn't have even been playing).
