Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game in seven years and counting. The earliest will be eight years. Art Rooney II, get a new head coach.

Not sure how much impact he'll have if Tomlin is running the defense. Hopefully we see some improvements.

Internal promotion. And the standard continues. Subpar.
Yinz continue to crack me up. Unless a guy is hired from outside directly into the position in the same year you consider them an 'internal hire'. Austin was on two other teams prior. In DET he was under an offensive minded HC and it was his first exposure as DC in the NFL. Probably didn't learn much. In CIN he was under Lewis who was defensive minded but Lewis was fired and the Austin was let go after a single season. Not enough time for Austin to accomplish much.
Do you really want an outside DC that was fired elsewhere cause he couldn't get it done?
On a positive note, Austin has been to the SuperBowl with the SeaHawks, Cardinals, and Raven with the Ravens being the only winner.
He also was the DC in Detroit when they were #2 in scoring and yardage.
Overall a lot of people like this guy. I’m hopeful he’s a good hire.
