Player A did have one more season, but otherwise the numbers between the two are relatively comparable. Player A is DHB, and player B is Emmanuel Sanders. Sanders, of course, played with Ben his whole career, while Bey caught passes from a bunch of homeless guys in Oakland before playing with Luck last year.

I think that Sanders is the better receiver (though he had 740 yards last year, compared to 975 for DHB), but he's going to be making $5-6 million per year, whatever the number is, while Bey likely signed for the veteran minimum.
DHB only had 309 yards receiving last year. He did have 975 yards in 2011. Here are a couple of things you failed to mention in your comparison.

    DHB - 169 receptions on 362 targets
    Sanders - 161 receptions on 278 targets

DHB had 8 more receptions on 84 more targets. That should tell you something.

Another thing is DHB started 64 games where Sanders started 19. Not really fair to compare stats between players when Sanders played on a team with a much better receiving corp than the one DHB played on. If DHB had been on the Steelers he never would have seen the field.
As many on this site think ... The Rooney's suck, Colbert sucks, Tomlin sucks, the coaches suck, and the players suck.

    but Go Steelers!!!

This game is all about X's and O's and having a speedster helps this offense: PERIOD Mike Wallace was an overpriced DECOY that made our passing game better. Emmanuel Sanders tried to go deep last year and it just didn't work nor did it make anyone pay attention. Having STONE HANDS BEY will still draw that double coverage whether he can catch the ball or not! It's a legitimate threat and makes the Moore Signing make sense now.
Why would you ever double cover a guy who can't catch? Wallace was not a decoy ... he was a very successful receiver with the Steelers which is why he got the payday that he did. Their is no comparison between Wallace and DHB.

But, if he had played with a QB like Ben, he may have better stats...

All fair points, and that really wasn't meant to be a comprehensive comparison.

There is a dropoff from Sanders, but it's not as huge a dropoff as it appears, provided that DHB is more the player he was his last few years in Oakland than what he showed with the Colts last year. And with the huge difference in salary, the Steelers get a veteran stopgap while they develop a younger player and the ability to address other areas of the team.

Maybe double cover is the wrong thing to say but you don't go 1 on 1 on a speedster on the outside. Teams will provide SAFETY help when BEY runs the FLY pattern and although maybe that's not classified as double coverage it will open up the underneath routes that our WRS and TE's like to run.

You guys act like he dropped everything but he has had some solid #'s and he comes pretty darn cheap. He is the "PERFECT" compliment to our existing WR corp and he will make everyone around him better. Lets all remember he can BLOCK as well.

Wallace got OVERPAID and if you also remember BEN and WALLACE you will remember how many times BEN simply missed him because he was TOOO FAST! Those misses might look bad on a stat sheet but the hidden stat is what opens up underneath by having a deep threat. Again think of Harper and Irvin. Irvin wouldn't of had the stats he had if Harper wasn't drawing the safety over to his side of the field. Harper never put up 1000 yard seasons but he did his job well. DECOY and HR Passes here or there. Bey is no harper but he will help Brown, Moore, and Miller if Wheaton is unable to do the same.

What this tells me is that management might not be sold on Marcus Wheaton

Never seen the field? Based on what? If Moyer and that slow white kid from a few years ago could see the field DHB could also see it.

What you are forgetting is who was throwing the ball to DHB.

29 catches with 9 drops and Andrew Luck throwing him the ball. The colts benched him and most of their receiving corp looked like a MASH unit. What makes you think the Steelers would let him on the field?

I'm hoping someone on our coaching staff has the magic formula to help Darius Haywire-Bey. Not likely, but we can always dream. If he could ever get his catching ability to come close to his speed, he could be the deep threat that would really help this offense.

I don't think this changes the Steelers' draft board one bit.

The signing of BEY tells me that WR isn't their plan at #15.
I think DENNARD is their man
