I think OLB rushers like James and Woodley are going to become afterthoughts because of the rules Goodell wants. Teams are going to ditch the 3-4 scheme and go back to the 4-3. You can add more players in the secondary to cover the spread offenses with multiple receiver sets and try to get pressure from the DL.

Tomlin IMO will install his Tampa Two scheme the minute LeBeau is out the door.

You guys need to understand that Goodell is changing the game. Things that occurred in 2008 will feel like it was 30 years ago by the time he's done.
In every other thread, you talk about how the long ball is key to the passing game. If that is the case, then there is absolutely a spot for pass rushers.

If you don't think that pass rushers make plays or are considered play makers, I don't even know what to say. Harrison has taken over games pretty much on his own. A sack fumble from the defense is a huge play, and pressure leads to a better chance of turnovers.

The Steelers do need more skill players on offense, but they also need to improve their pass rush.

Some perspective here, please... first, did anybody here watch the guy actually play football? He single handedly kept Florida out of the SEC and national title mix this year. Was one of the greatest games by a defensive player I've ever seen.

Second, Clark Haggans ran 5.04 at the combine and was serviceable here for a few years. Peezy wasn't much faster. Neither was Jason Gildon. Talk to me about agility. Tell me what he ran 10 yards, 3 cone shuttle. Functional strength like James? Can he get low to the ground and get leverage on the 6'8" guys teams are running out at OT? Pass rushers need to be quick twitch and strong, not necessarily sprinters.

I'm betting the guy ends up double digit sacks for whoever takes him.

Is it true Jones disappeared in big games? Did you pad his stats against some of his weaker competition like Missouri, Kentucky, GT, Auburn, Vanderbilt?

Harrison wasn't a first round pick either.

I've always been a "performance on the field" guy compared to a combine/pro day buy. That is why I'd still take Jones at 1.17.

The neck is the #1 concern for me.

The guy lead college football in sacks and tackles for loss. He's a stud. I'd prefer his 40 team be better at only 245 but I'm not to concerned with that.

Based upon the performance, it looks like he played best against the best competition (Florida, Auburn, Alabama, Nebraska)....
