I love how several months ago I kept saying this was going to happen. In the off-season we would learn that Ben's injury was more than was led to believe. Certain posters kept bashing Ben over and over and over. Some here (those with common sense), would say that maybe the poor play after he got hurt had something to do with the injury he suffered.

Well, that's what Ben and the team seem to be saying now.

But at the time, all we were hearing is that Ben was fine. Did Ben really believe that? Or did he know his injury was still hampering him? Did the team realize he was still too injured to make those throws?

I have to wonder...if there had been a little more honesty, maybe they'd have decided that a healthy Charlie was a better option than a crippled Ben for those last three games.

Yes but you as a fan of this team for many years and one who knows enough about the game of football knew that wasn't true...right? It was pretty obvious by the lack of zip on his passes that there was something still bothering him.

Funny thing though, there are many here on this forum who hate Ben so much they would never have considered that he was still hurt. Even when it was blatantly obvious.

So the Steelers thought that a Ben who couldn't get any "zip on his passes" was a better option than a healthy Charlie Batch? I don't get it...after Charlie played as well as he did vs. the Ravens...I mean, what do you have a backup QB for if not to come in for your starter when he can't make the throws?

He could make most throws. The one's he was picked on were pretty tough - and the injury played a major factor.. The guy is a competitor. Let him be. Our backups were horrid last year.

I thought Batch was rounding into form by the Ravens game. A healthy Batch is nowhere near as good as a healthy Ben... but a Ben "with no zip on his throws"? Come on. Is this about winning games, or being careful not to hurt your franchise QB's feelings?

Exactly... why have Charlie or Leftwich even on the roster if you are so afraid for them to replace Ben when he's injured. And even when they are playing due to injury, they refuse to allow them to throw the ball.

If they have that little confidence in both Batch and Leftwich then why have them on the roster. It goes beyond comprehension.

It's actually the other way around. Some fans love Ben so much they dumb themselves down enough to think fans would believe Ben was 100% healthy.

C'mon man... you sound crazy. Why would it only be obvious to certain fans "who know football" that he was still injured?

So... Ben haters think he is dumb, arrogant, cocky, lazy, etc.... but at the same time he is some kind of wizard who can magically heal himself?

The problem IMHO... is most knew the injury would be the reason we lost. Once again it's a win win situation. If we lose.. it's due to injury.. if we win, it's due to awesomeness. The issue is Ben has been injured the last 2 years and pretty much carries an injury into every game due to his style of play. I honestly don't think Ben's injury was the reason we lost those games. I think we lost those games because we made tons of mistakes which kept games closer than they needed to be.

Ben didn't lose those games... the whole team lost those games.

I'm sick and tired of hearing excuses for one play like we were on a magic ride that ended on one throw. We were pretty stinky all year even when we were 6-3. We were never on a roll. We beat the Giants but they stunk last year too.

Or possibly THEY BELIEVED BEN's denials of the injuries effect on his play.
On the other hand some like yourself KNEW he was lying back then.

I dont know how one can be criticized for taking Ben at his word.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:
