....played great against some truly awful defensive secondaries. The WRs made Joe what he was during the playoffs.

No it wont... I was a little shocked to see Flacco win a SB and Denver definitely helped him out but they will do what every team does in a few years. Restructure his contract to free up room. Ed Reed is on the back end and will probably play one or 2 more seasons. Boldin will probably retire soon. Thry have a young RB who filled in nicely when Rice started fumbling.

Hoping for a cap nightmare isnt the best strategy IMO. Ravens really had no choice and they have been pretty successful with flacco so they had to back up the brinks.

Yup, that was my first thought as well. The Ravens will now see that it is a lot harder to build and maintain a roster when you have to pay a franchise QB. And paying Flacco at that level is insane. They gambled on this one by not extending him last year and lost.

I know its the Rats but cmon... a franchise QB is the goal of every team. Well, every team except those coached by Wandstat, Cowher and Schottenheimer. lol...

Ben has 3 years left on his contract, and these cap hit numbers are getting outrageous for QBs now, especially after a career average QB can have 1 great playoff run and screw everything else up even more.

The Steelers better find a young replacement for Ben in the next couple years.

The book on Flacco has always been that he folds like a cheap tent under pressure. His line just happened to be flawless this postseason. Birk is gone, McKinnie will get paid based on his playoff run and resume sitting his fat, lazy, overpaid rear end on somebody else's bench looking for motivation, and Flacco goes back to being Average Joe, even though his uniform and facial hair make him look far more the Purple Cobra type...
    Nice!

Finding out the details of the deal (signing bonus, structure, total guaranteed money, etc.) will make a huge difference here, so let's hope that Bert and his agent took the Ravens for the maximum amount possible.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

Having a franchise QB is the goal of every team, no doubt. But is Flacco a franchise QB? Can he carry at team? He certainly is not the best QB in the league.

Paying a QB franchise level QB salary makes it harder to find a supporting cast.

That's the biggest problem I would have if I was a Ravens fan. If you are paying a QB $120M+ there should be NO debate about being a franchise QB, but I am seeing plenty of it.

I think Flacco's WR's did a tremendous job in that playoff run. Flacco seemed to just be throwing it up for grabs at times. Throw in an OL gelling at the right time with Ray Rice and Bernard Pierce running the ball and it all fell into place for them.

All that tells me we need better offensive line depth, better RB's, and more physical WR's. Plus, we won't even have Heath. Our offense needs major work or Ben's final years will be wasted.
