I think this signing should help with at least the slot corner issue. And he might even be our 2nd best outside corner.

Hoping that he doesn't lose any playing time due to league suspensions (which can apparently be imposed at will by RG).

The 29-year-old spent his first six seasons in Mike Tomlin's system before signing in Detroit last offseason. Sutton struggled mightily on the field in 2023. Off-field issues this offseason led the Lions to release the corner in March after an arrest warrant was issued for an alleged domestic violence incident. Sutton eventually turned himself in to police and reportedly entered a pretrial diversion program on misdemeanor battery charges.

Corner depth was a concern for the Steelers this offseason. Joey Porter Jr. displayed the physical ability to be a No. 1 CB, and the trade for Donte Jackson provided Pittsburgh with a stellar top-two, but there was little else beyond.

Sutton's last season in Pittsburgh was his best. According to Next Gen Stats, he allowed a career-low 44.4% completion rate and -8.5 receptions over expected. If he returns to anything close to that level of play, the Steelers secondary will be sturdier in 2024.
Wonder what the reason was for struggling mightily last year?

    Who knows?

System, decline, and off field issues would probably be my first 3 guesses though.

Sutton if he can return to form should be an upgrade at the second CB spot.

His numbers last season were similar to 2021 with the Steelers when he had 5 TDs allowed. I think that's the year they were playing him outside a lot.

its all the extra possessions from going for it on 4th down all the time
I lost a bet about Najee gaining 1300 yards.

"Our head coach has failed to win a playoff game for seven years in a row. His game day strategy, culture of divas, in game decisions, clock management, player evaluation, hires, and affinity with sub par starters at RB, P, and OL are holding the Steelers back. That standard remains the standard"

Not a bad signing for league minimum. Goodell will probably hand down a suspension around 4 games or so.

Who knows? Got to spin the "wheel of discipline" and see what happens I guess.
