I don't think we need any more slot WR's, would like to see a good compliment to GP however.

That being said, IF (jury is still out) this O-line can be effective in establishing the run and controlling the LOS - that, combined with wilson's experience may take an average WR (at best right now) and allow them to be more effective. If Najee and Jaylen are getting chunks, it will open up the secondary.

It's probably wishful thinking on my part and I would like to see a higher level signing - but i suppose it COULD happen.

    His name is Roman Wilson.

    Did everyone miss the draft?

WR #2 could very well be Roman Wilson.

Target #2 however, is very likely Pat Friermuth.

I would be shocked if Najee or Friermuth do not have the 2nd most catches by the end of the season.

As I've mentioned previously- the biggest danger is if Pickens goes down hurt- we are thin on options to fill the #1 role.

But, if Pickens stays healthy- our WR #2 might very well be Target #4 behind Pickens, Friermuth & Harris. If that is the case- a combination of Wilson, Watkins, Jefferson, Austin or Miller is probably fine to fill WR #2-#4.

It would not surprise me if the surprise package in our offense isn't someone rarely mentioned- Connor Heyward. I suspect he is FB #1 in a system that will likely put a FB on the field. But as we have seen, Heyward is a pretty handy pass catcher as well.

There's going to be a bunch of interchangable pass catchers after Pickens/Muth/Harris.
The people that are trying to make the world worse never take a day off, why should I?

Arthur Smith had a 5th overall pick at TE in Kyle Pitts, an 8th overall pick at WR in Drake London, and an 8th overall pick in Bijan Robinson. None of those 3 were even remotely productive under Smith. So maybe worrying about the #2 WR is a waste of time, since Smith doesn't even use his #1 options

Pitts had more targets than the Steelers WR2, and ATL TEs had more than double the targets than PIT TEs.

But can PF get through a season with that much usage?

And if not, can Washington step in?

I'd be less worried about a competent WR2 if I had more faith in the quality and durability of our TE room.

I get that you can't fill all the needs we had going into the season. But this issue at WR2 is self inflicted IMO.
